PGA Tour – AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Predictions
Where: Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill Golf Course (Monterey, CA)
When: January 30th to February 2nd
Watch: ESPN+, The Golf Channel, CBS
The 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am promises to be an exciting event, combining the talents of professional golfers and celebrity amateurs. Held annually on the beautiful Monterey Peninsula in California, this tournament is renowned for its stunning coastal scenery and challenging courses, including Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill Golf Course. This weekend, golf fans can expect to see top PGA Tour professionals competing alongside a diverse array of celebrities from the worlds of sports, entertainment, and business. The unique format of the Pro-Am allows amateurs to partner with professionals, creating a relaxed yet competitive atmosphere that is enjoyed by players and spectators alike.
A field of 80 professional golfers each paired with their own amateur will make for an extremely exciting weekend of golf. The 80 pairs will not have to worry about a cut-line during this event and will compete in a best-ball format (using handicaps for the amateurs) over the first two rounds. There will also be a normal stroke-play ranking amongst just the pros as the event winds down. Let’s take a look at the courses these golfers will face and then see who is worth a wager.
Breaking Down the Courses
Pebble Beach Golf Links
- Par 72
- Distance: 6,828 yards
- Par 3 7th hole is one of the most famous in golf. Downhill shot over the rocky coastline with the Pacific Ocean backdrop. Wind will play a major factor.
- Holes 8, 9, 10 known as the “Cliffs of Doom”. Steeply sloped greens where errant shots end up in the ocean
Spyglass Hill Golf Course
- Par 72
- Distance: 7,026 yards
- The 4th hole is a 370-yard Par 4 that will entice golfers into potential birdie opportunities. The fairway narrows drastically before sloping towards the green making accuracy off the tee key.
- 3rd hole known as “The Black Spot” has a majorly sloping green and ever-changing ocean winds. Club choice will be imperative, depending on the conditions.
Who to Bet on this Weekend?
Collin Morikawa – Top 5 Finish (+250)
Morikawa has had plenty of documented success on tour in the state of California, his home state. The only tool really missing from Morikawa’s game is his driving distance, but that should not really be a detriment to his success at Pebble Beach. His overall accuracy with his irons is unheralded and when his putter is dialed-in, he is dangerous. His only 2025 tour appearance was at The Sentry, and he finished solo second. In his 2024 appearance at Pebble Beach, Morikawa finished T-14 but left a lot to be desired with his approach play. I expect a better all-around game from Collin and expect him to contend right up until the end of Sunday’s round.
Harry Hall – Top 20 Finish (+175)
There is not a hotter golfer in the field this weekend. Harry Hall has been on an absolute tear to finish 2024 and begin 2025. His performance at The American Express was his worst in recent memory, but he was still able to find himself at T-21. In Hall’s five tournaments prior, he would have cashed a top 20 finish in all five and would have cashed a top 10 finish in three. While his accuracy off the tee may be slightly below tour average, his putting, play around the green, and approach have allowed him to finish with a positive true strokes gained rating in 9 of his last 10 appearances. Hall finding his way back inside the top 20 seems like a foregone conclusion.
Scottie Scheffler – To Win (+500)
As the favorite in the field, this is not a flashy play by any stretch of the imagination. I can’t help but throw a unit onto Scottie to win simply because it happens more often than not. His return to Pebble Beach has been highly anticipated, and you don’t want to look like a fool for not backing him. He is the number one golfer in the world for a reason, and even in a bit of a more relaxed style of tournament, he can easily come out on top.
