    Germany v Italy

The Italy v England game went off with seemingly the whole world on the 0-0 draw except a few suckers including me. After five minutes the 0-0 lay at 6.8 looked as safe as houses, but the inability of either team to score became more and more apparent as chance after chance was missed.

When Germany are involved, the whole complexion of football matches changes. Twelve of their last fourteen matches (86%) have gone over 2.5 goals averaging over 3.8 goals per game. In their last 11 major finals matches going back to World Cup 2010, seven have gone over 2.5 goals (64%).

Italy have gone over 2.5 in four of their last 13 games in two years, and one of their last seven in major finals, but both teams have scored in five of those seven.

Therefore, despite the assumptions about Italy closing down the game, odds of 2.5 about there being three or more goals look attractive.

Immovable object vs irresistible force? I'll take the irresistible force every time, especially when the object looks suspiciously movable...
