    JoePa's PGA CHAMPIONSHIP Picks

Thank you Marc Leishman.....for the Top 5 finish last week at the WGC Bridgestone! A number of my picks made the Top 10 with Rickie Fowler and Adam Scott both finishing -7, when another birdie or one less bogey would have put them in a T5th at -8. Hideki Matsuyama finished T12th and Jim Furyk T15th.

Ah, the PGA Championship is this week in Louisville, Kentucky at Valhalla Golf Club. The course favors Johnny-Long-Ball hitters and you would figure it might be game, set, and match with the way Rory is playing and his butcher-like performance at The Open Championship and WGC Bridgestone last week. He carved them gracefully and 7458 yards of Valhalla this week should be right in his wheelhouse. I don't want to wear out my Rickie Fowler picks and of course, going sans favorite and looking at other players in the field who are in good form of late to grab some cash.

SERGIO GARCIA - 16/1 OUTRIGHT WINNER - Not a fan, but don't you have to feel for the guy! He's finished second to Rory in his last two starts and has been really playing the best golf of his career. He's got three (3) runner-up finishes in his last four (4) outings, leads le Tour in par 3 AND par 4 scoring, is T9th in proximity and 4th in scrambling. Livin' la Vida Loca! Just 3/1 Top 5 finish odds....

JUSTIN ROSE - 16/1 OUTRIGHT WINNER - Besides Sergio, he's about the only other golfer in the field right now that can give Rory a serious run for the money...IMHO! He has two (2) wins this summer and T4th last week at Firestone, is 10th in scoring and 6th all-around. He would love to have this one in his crown, or to at least show the crowne back across the pond. Just 3/1 Top 5 finish odds....

BRANDT SNEDEKER - 10/1 TOP 5 FINISH - He says its---the PGA Championship---the closest a major will get to his ol' Kentucky home and he's pumped! Why not! He was 12th at Firestone last week, which was his 5th Top 25 in his last six (6) starts, and ranks 23rd in strokes gained putting. Man on a mission with lots of bluegrass under his feet.

KEEGAN BRADLEY - 11/2 TOP 5 FINISH - He's thinking Ryder Cup! And, he won here in 2011. Keegan has finished T4th in three (3) of his last six (6) Tour starts including last week in Akron. Talk about a guy who is pumped. Now if he can just improve his GIR and quick scrambling so much he won't have to rely as much on his silly putter.

RYAN MOORE - 12/1 TOP 5 FINISH - Has finished no worse than T12th in his last four (4) starts---and that was at The Open Championship. In those last four (4) events sandwiched around Hoylake he finished an aggregate -44 with a T5th at the Travelers, T7th at the John Deere, and grabbed a T8th last week at Firestone. Ranks 4th in par 3 birdie or better average, 5th in par 4 birdie or better average, 9th in GIR, 14th in driving accuracy, 12th in birdie average, 17th in proximity and 22nd in scoring. he has seven (7) Top 10s in the season.

ROBERT KARLSSON - 20/1 TOP 5 FINISH - Still impressed with what this 40-something has done this year! The PGA Championship will be just his second start on U.S. soil this year, but on the Euro Tour he has seven (7) Top 15s including his last three (3) events (The Open Championship, Scottish Open, Alstom Open de France). He ranks 11th in putting on the Euro, is 18th in scoring, has a 66% GIR average and 65% sand save average.
