AT&T National Championship -
NICK WATNEY 14/1 to win outright - Watney finished in a T7th here last year. Last week he T13th at The Travelers after missing the U.S. Open cut. At the Travelers he finished 6th in the field for GIR, and is ranked 13th in GIR on tour this season, 6th in all-around and 10th in bogey avoidance. Watney could be another 2011 two-time tour winner this week. He's had a fabulous season with his win at the WGC-Cadillac Championship to go along with 7 Top 10s and a total of 10 Top 25s in the 11 cuts he's made of 13 season starts and a lofty 5th place FedEx Cup ranking. To say he's playing well would be the understatement of the century. I'm surprised he hasn't won more than once already. Great form.....
RYAN MOORE 16/1 to win outright - Moore was close last week at The Travelers! However, a costly bogey 5 on the 18th left him stranded with an otherwise tidy final round 63 and a T2 with John Rollins just one stroke shy of getting into a playoff with winner Fredrik Jacobson. Last season he finished T2nd at Tiger's tournament and ranked 2nd in putting and T2nd in birdies for the week. His two rounds of 64, closing round of 63 and 2nd place finish last week along with a T4th at the Northern Trust, T5th at the WGC Accenture, and T12th at the Arnie Palmer show his season and recent form to be in good shape.
WEBB SIMPSON 25/1 to win outright & 5/1 to finish Top 10 - Simpson managed to weave out a T13th at The Travelers last week, which was his 3rd straight Top 15 finish and 7th Top 25 finish in his last 8 starts on the year. He actually led the field in putting at The Travelers and was T2nd in birdies. He currently ranks 21st on tour in GIR, 9th in bogey avoidance and is ranked 1st in all-around. He's made 13 of 15 cuts on the year, is 14th in the FedEx standings, 6th in scoring average and 13th in total driving. Great season form even though his last two trips to the AT&T produced a T41st and T35th.
Worth a look - Don't count out Hunter Mahan who is 2 for 3 in Top 10s at the AT&T with a 2nd place finish in 2009, T12th in 2008, and T8th in 2007. Also, grizzled veteran Jim Furyk loves the AT&T with a T33rd in 2010, T7th in 2009, T3rd in 2008, and a T3rd in 2007.
