    JoePa's Travelers Championship

    JoePa's Travelers Championship

HUNTER MAHAN 14/1 to win outright - Missed cut last year but had 4 consecutive Top 4 finishes @ TPC River Highlands including his first tour victory in 2007 here. Mahan certainly has good form with 9 Top 16s, 3 of them in a row before the missed cut at the US Open last week. He also has 7 Top 10s in 15 starts this year, is 16th in total driving and 5th in GIR. More importantly to consider besides his recent form is his course form at the Travelers.

BO VAN PELT 28/1 to win outright - A quiet T14th last week at the US Open to go along with tidy finishes at the Crowne Plaza T3rd, the Masters T8th, the Memorial T13th and a T17th at the WGC Accenture Match Play. Bo has 2 Top 10s in his last 4 starts at The Travelers. He's 6th in total driving, 26th in GIR, 8th in eagles, and 17th all around. Nice resume so far and he's quietly one of the hottest players on tour.

BEN CURTIS 66/1 to win outright, 12/1 to finish Top 10 - OK, call it a homer play as Curtis is a Kent State boy. He's not exactly burning up the tour with 3 Top 25s and making just over one-half (7) of 13 cuts on the season to go along with a 111th FedEx Cup ranking. But, Curtis has great form @ The Travelers and a history of finishing in the big money. He finished 4th last year, T4th in 2009, T13th in 2008 and T4th in 2005. Maybe this is the shot in the arm he needs to get the ball rolling this year. He finished T12th at the Northern Trust, T13th at home at the Memorial in Dublin, OH, T24th @ The Shell Houston, and is 2nd in driving accuracy on tour. C'mon Ben!

Another golfer who deserves serious consideration this week is Fredrik Jacobson. He T14th last week at the US Open and was near the top---well, as close as almost anyone to Rory McIlroy---after 3 rounds. He's a great putter, has now made 14 of 17 cuts on the season, is 14th in scoring average and 9th in 3-putt avoidance. Also has 7 top 25s on the year even though is form is not great at TPC River Highlands where he's 0/3 with 2 missed cuts and a T48th.
