WYNDHAM CHAMPIONSHIP
TIM CLARK 18/1 TO WIN OUTRIGHT & 7/2 TO FINISH TOP 5 – Clark has had a banner year with a 2nd, 4 Top10s, and 9 Top25s on the season. He finished in 2nd after a playoff at the Crowne Plaza, T9th at The Players, T13th at The Masters, T9th at the WGC-CA, T13th at the Northern Trust, T5th at the Hope, and T12th at the Sony. Last week he finished a solid T16th at the PGA Championship at Hazeltine. His solid recent form is further illustrated by the fact that he’s ranked 7th in driving accuracy, 5th in scoring average, 10th in all-around ranking, 9th in total putting, 4th in par 4 performance, and has made 15 of 17 cuts on the season. He’s also ranked 24th in the FedEx and will not be an easy out for anybody! His course form finds him with 2 Top10s in 5 starts here, finishing T6th in 2008.
SERGIO GARCIA 7/2 TO FINISH TOP 5 – Garcia is 0 for 1 in starts here and that was in 2005 in his maiden voyage at the Wyndham. Speaking of maidens, he won’t be making any more poolside commercials with tanned and toned maidens if he doesn’t quit playing like one. Although he’s made 10 of 13 cuts on the season, he’s 115th in the FedEx standings and was embarrassingly cut at the PGA last week after posting opening rounds of 71-78. By far his best work of the year was at the US Open where he finished T10th, however, he’s 47th in scoring average, 94th in total driving, 130th in putting, and has finished OVER PAR in 7 of his last 10 made cuts! I’m backing a desperate golfer in desperate times....he needs a win badly to vault into the FedEx playoffs.
JAMES NITTIES 10/1 TO FINISH TOP 10 – The Big Break grad has had a solid season with 2 Top10s and 6 Top25s, with his best finishes a T4th at the FBR Open and T6th at the Mayakoba Classic. He’s currently 80th in the FedEx standings, well ahead of Garcia....imagine that! Nitties isn’t done even though he’s raked in $836,867 this season. Plus, the greater Greensboro area has been kind to many international players in the past and Nitties fits that bill.
