    JoePa's Verizon Heritage

Just a few short days after a major when anything can happen....some players refocusing, others taking advantage of some tired minds.

    VERIZON HERITAGE

    JIM FURYK 14/1 -
Ol' loopy swing has 3 Top10 finishes this season and finished there in The Masters last week. He does have 13 PGA Tour wins in his back pocket, but none since winning the 2007 Canadian Open. He has 3 Top10s here in the last 4 seasons, missing the cut in 2007, but finishing 4th in 2008, 2nd in 2006, and T2nd in 2005 Jimbo is due and is 14th on the tour in driving accuracy at 70.24% which will be necessary when the wind whips at Harbor Town.

    AARON BADDELEY 22/1 -
Bads finished strong at The Masters last week and ended in a T17th. He was runnerup at Harbor Town last year and has 3 Top10s here in the last 3 years ending T2nd in 2008, T10th in 2007 and was the winner in 2006. Bads hasn't won on tour since that win at Harbor Town and this course suits his game. Plus, he's 4th in tour putting average at 1.716 and 3rd in putts per round at 27.65.

    ERNIE ELS 22/1 -
Talk about a homer job......The Big Easy loves Harbor Town and it shows! He has 7 Top20 finishes here in the last 8 years! He didn't make the cut last season and finisehd 2nd in 2007, T7th in 2006, and T3rd in 2004. Els in 36th in tour scoring average at 70.33, 7th in GIR at 70.51%, 9th in total driving, and 20th in driving distance at 294.3 yards.

How about a small .5 unit play on the two-time defending champion, Boo Weekley. He hasn't fared well this year although he's made 7 of 8 cuts.......he's 67th in driving, 47th in driving accuracy, 170th in putting average, 177th in putts per round, 139th in eagles, 106th in birdies, 150th in sand saves, is 121st in scoring average.....could Harbor Town be the tonic he desperately needs?!

JoeP- GL!.....just like NASCAR, Golf outrights are sucker bets IMO.

I mean you might hit the winner every 4 or 5 tournaments if you're lucky at a price of maybe say 18/1. but in the meantime you've bet on 5 guys every week and lost a unit on all of those and you need a winner just to break even. I think there is much more value in matchups. Or even playing a guy to finish in the top3 or top5. Just my 2cents.
