    JoePa's Wyndham Championship

Most of the players playing this week are here either improve their status in the Ryder Cup or FedEx Standings......I haven't made a pick for two weeks but here goes nothing!

PAUL CASEY 15 / 1 - In the last 3 events he's played in he's finished with 2 Top10s --- T7th at The Open Championship, T8th at The Bridgestone, and T15th at the PGA Championship.....two of the three are majors! At the PGA Championship last week he missed the Top10 by one stroke! He's trying to impress European Ryder Cup Captain Nick Faldo and earn a spot on the team and also improve his FedEx Cup Standings were he ranks 91st.

DAVID TOMS 28 / 1 - Still trying to earn a Ryder Cup spot but doesn't have a Top10 all season long and is 112th on the tour money list, and it's been 2 years since he won on tour. So why pick him? He had a solid showing last week at the PGA Championship where he finished T15, he traveled to Greensboro to play a practice round a couple of weeks ago which makes him one of the few players in the field to play this course, and this course suits his game. Before the rains came last week he was in contention on a longer course and could be rewarded this week on a course that favors accurate shot-making over power hitting. If that's not enough, believe it or not he's made 11 cuts in a row on tour.

JEEV MILKHA SINGH 38 / 1 - Lot's of Euro Tour players are often over looked when they come stateside to play in tournaments. This "other" Singh is one of those players who deserves a closer look. I've watched him flourish and work his way up the European Order of Merit where he ranks 14th and his previous best was 16th two years ago. He's got 3 Top10s in a row in his last three events, a T10th at the European Open, T9th at the Barclays Scottish Open, and a T9th last week at the PGA Championship. On the year he has 2 second place finishes and a win at the Bank Austria Open. He is also experiencing career bests in stroke average at 70.48, GIR a 73.15%, Putts per GIR at 1.76, and Sand saves at 72.73% (previous high was in 2005). He's stayed the week to get used to the time change and no doubt got in a practice round or two in North Carolina. The heat there may be to his liking.

DAVIS LOVE III 60 / 1 - His best finish on tour this season is a T19th at The Open Championship a few short weeks ago, he's ranked 150th on the FedEx Cup list and needs a good showing to improve his chances of breaking into the first round of the FedEx playoffs. So why pick him? He's won this tournament twice! Not on this course but he has won it twice and he's also the sentimental favorite. Love is right at home in North Carolina as a Tar Heel alum and a win amongst friends will go a long, long, way to healing that nagging sore wrist and back.
