I was tracking "Revenge" games for a year or two, and was finding that teams with revenge on their minds haven't been covering the spread very often.
That has changed in the playoffs. I think revenge teams are like 4-0 or something.
I'm going with a split this week.
Buffalo +1.5 - KC has revenge, but no team has ever won it 3 years in a row, and the NFL is probably tired of everyone saying they're rigging it for KC. When Dallas went for 3 in a row back in the 90s, they got stopped by SF in the conference championship as well.
Taylor Swift conspiracy? Maybe. But Josh Allen's fiance isn't a slouch herself. Hailee Steinfeld is a movie star that is perfectly fine to feature on TV over and over again.
Philly -4.5 - They split the season series, but Washington won the last game at the end against Kenny Pickett. The thing that impresses me the most about Washington this year is their poise in obvious letdown spots. They've had so many close game wins and big wins, and they still have been covering the week after almost every time. Unfortunately, Cinderellas usually falter in the last 4, and there is an extreme amount of hype around Jayden Daniels that I just don't think he can live up to. He's been called "the greatest rookie QB ever" by multiple people this week.
Washington's defense has been playing pretty well in the playoffs, but they are an average unit at best, and the offensive line is still a work in progress. Philly is the type of team to wear you down, and I don't think Washington can match then score for score.
I'll be cheering for the exact opposite though. Would love to see Jayden Daniels in a super bowl, and if he can't win one, I'm cool with seeing if KC can make history. Hate the team if you want, but Mahomes is a special player and the way he's been able to consistently win without a Ceedee Lamb, Jamar Chase, Justin Jefferson, St. Brown, or even a George Pickens Jr. is simply remarkable.
