    ***MNF Discussion***

Yeah, so I stole U-Dog's asterisk laden title-age. forgiveness please!

anyways, lets talk MNF the 0-2 Carolinia Panthers travel to the 1-1 Dallas Cowboys.

Carolina got stomped week one as jake delhomme threw a gazillion interceptions and then lost week 2 in atlanta 28-20, where Carolina was drving in the last few minutes but came up short. They are 0-2 ATS.

Dallas beat a feeble Tampa team 34-21 in tampa with the help of some very long TD plays and then lost their home opener last Sunday night to the Giants 33-31 on a last second FG. They are 1-1 ATS

Dallas is right around -9 as I write this up.

Dallas defense looks pretty (VERY) shaky they havent stopped anyone and will have to contend with Steve Smith and the best RB duo in the league.

Carolina's Defense is nothing special or so it seems, but theyve been playing on short field due to the turnover prone Jake Delhomme.

Dallas offense may be without Marion barber but they dont lose much there with solid back ups Felix Jones and Tashard Choice. Romo has a knack to give the ball as we've seen countless times out of this guy.

Carolina's offense should run the ball quite a bit. Carolina's offense presents a tough challenge for any Defense..try to take away the run and Steve Smith will kill you on the outside. Try and double Smith and theyll run it down your throats.

With the defense dallas has and the inconsistent QB I dont see how I could lay 9 points with them. Carolina is 0-2 in a desparation situation ( see Jax this week) and they will control the clock with the run.

Loving Carolina and the points tonight +9 looks sweet. havent considered the O/U yet.

Love to hear eveyones thoughts on this matchup

Carolina's desperate, I like them with the points. That is a lot of points and you can bet they will be fired up.

Also on Carolina tonight but I think arguments can be made on either side.

I made a small play on them last week +6.5 that looked good until Matty Ice and the Falcons put them away. I really thought it was a good bounce-back opportunity for the Panthers, especially in a divisional game.

I look at this game very similarly to the way a lot of people (including myself) looked at the Titans yesterday (even though that went bust). At 0-2, I feel like this game means slightly more to Carolina than it does to Dallas. With New Orleans and Atlanta looking very strong, a loss here would set Carolina a long way back in the NFC South. Delhomme also may be playing for his job if there's anymore needed incentive to play big. With Philly, Atlanta and Dallas to start the season, that's a TOUGH schedule for the Panthers and this game is huge for them. I'm looking at the Panthers' secondary receivers (Muhammad and perhaps FINALLY Dwayne Jarrett) to find open space on those 3-step drops because I think Steve Smith will see a lot of doubles. I also look for Stewart and Williams to be on the field at the same time as often as possible to provide Jake with some outlets.

On the flip side, it's tough to see Dallas dropping two consecutive home games, especially on their new turf. Another loss in the new digs might cause some of the plastic to fall right out of Jerry Jones' face. Like you said, losing Marion the Barbarian doesn't hurt as bad when you consider that Felix Jones might even be more talented - I think there'll be a lot of rushing yards on either side given the talent of both teams. That might not necessarily push me towards and UNDER play though, given the fact that Jones and D.Williams are both home run threats in space. Think I'll prob lay off the total unless someone around here convinces me otherwise.

Both quarterbacks seem to be their own worst enemies and this game might come down to big plays and turnovers. Who makes the most? I'll lean to Romo, especially in the second half as I think Delhomme will play more conservatively, having his own job security to worry about.

Looking forward to other insight, GL to all!

Heres from my MNF Play thread,

Even though this game is in Dallas, I like the panthers to cover the points.
Dallas has given up 150 yards rushing to Tampa, held NYG to 80 yards(though they only attempted about 17 rushes that game since Eli threw for 38 attempts). Dallas' defense has looked shaky so far and hasnt proven they can shut anyone down. I think Panthers will have success running the ball and jake wont even have to throw it. My guess for the line would have been a touch down for the cowboys( didnt look at the spreads lol). Unless Jake of week 1 shows up, I dont really see how the cowboys will dominate the game as their defense hasnt shown any signs of greatness.

Everyone also mentions the panthers desperation as they are 0-2 and could be last place in the NFC south with this loss and ways behind saints/falcons. The cowboys are looking to get their first home win and are also coming off a loss at home. I like the panthers more in this situation because one loss and theyre 0-3 and pretty lost in their division.

As for the u/o, i like the points tonight because Dallas gave up 21 pts to Tampa and 33 to Giants.. Panthers have given up 38 to philly and 28 to ATL. Both defenses are struggling and have no identity right now.

CAR has not shown me anything that make me want to bet on them. The offense has looked like **** all season, delhomme is not just going to magically play great all of a sudden, hes been what is holding this team back for so long. Even after all of those turnovers, the Cowboys still put up 31 pts off of ZERO turnovers last week against the giants who are looking like one of the best in the nfc. To me, that is really impressive. I think the Cowboys will run the ball more to limit the decision making on Romo which isn't a bad thing. Their running game is one of the best in the league imo. As for the defense, I'll cut them a break as they were stuck in bad field position most of last game bc of the turnovers, but they will need to get to the qb at some point. I expect Romo to play better, everyone is all over him after ONE game. I think he rebounds and so does dallas. so I'd lay the points. I mean after all, why is dallas laying 9 pts anyway if they aren't all that good?

How can anyone give the Dallas D a break when they gave up 400+ yards to the offensive juggernaut Bucs who the Giants with all of the defensive injuries shut
out then let Eli Manning and two mediocre at best receivers get in Dallas ass
all night long they stopped running it because that Dallas secondary is awful
The Panthers are not half as bad as the Bucs and not as good as the Giants
But they have enough to keep up with a Dallas team in my opion that just really
            isn't that good .

flozell adams is terrible...how many times does he need to jump early? He's not even playing on the road lol. It's laughable that he and Ken Hamlin STILL start on the cowboys despite how many mistakes they make week in and week out.

                    you mean false start adams....

DAL is officially the dumbest team in sports....you have 2 cracks from the 1 yard line and you're averaging 8+ YPC in each of the last 2 games and you throw a 2 fade patterns....the latter to a TE on 3rd down.......:dunno:

like I said, Delhomme is the reason this team is so bad. and what's up with CAR not running the ball? even when they were down 13-7 they abondoned the run?

Looked to me like Smith/Muhammad/Delhomme are not having it with each other right now. This team could be on the verge of a blowup. That pick-6 was, like Jaws said, not Jake's fault. It's too hard to expect him to predict Smith breaking off that slant on a 3-step-drop play like that. And that 3rd down drop by Muhammad in the last 2 minutes was despicable. Those WRs should be appalled with their own performances tonight.
