Steelers Notebook: Polamalu criticizes current state of NFL
"The Ronnie Lotts, the Jack Tatums -- these guys who really went after people. They were that way because the game was physical. They couldn't survive in this type of game. They wouldn't have enough money because they'd be paying fines, and then they'd be suspended for a year after they did it two games in a row."
And I agree with him 100%. Every year that goes by sees the NFL become more and more a sport full of rules rather than a physical competition. When tackling a player by his shoulder pads is illegal, I can't imagine what is next. No tackling below the waist can't be far behind. And soon they're going to ask Brandon Jacobs to stop running people over and fining him for it.
The No Fun League, indeed.
