Did anybody ever notice??? Bad Website Alert.

the site that our pick'ems contest is on (wagertracker.com) changes their "experts only" picks after all the games have been completed. 90% of their concensus picks all of a sudden become "100%" in favor of the ats winner. Checked back and they do this every week. I watched it this weekend and in deed all of the numbers I wrote down sunday morning had been changed to "100%" today in favor of the ats winner. not that i really care or was basing any decisions on them... just stupid this is going on... are they really that desperate to get people to use their site?

IDK??? but I did notice today:

The Predictem Prediction: This Giants team seems to be a team on the verge of a collapse and will not receive any backing from us. We will go with the Eagles and a much better coaching staff. Lay the points!

New York Giants 35 Philadelphia Eagles 33

I'll shoot fish an email and he can check it out.

I dont own any part of the site and havent spent any time there since it first opened.

I assure you that nobody is doing any cheating there though. I know the owners and their integrity is 100%

Oh ****, that is ******* hilarious.

Jerbeek wrote that article, I posted it and changed the pick long before gametime because I didnt like his pick

I didnt realize that he had given analysis along with the pick.

That looks like absolute hokus pokus. Funny ****. Sorry about that. I guess next time I change one of the writers picks at the end, I should take the time to read their analysis LOL

ok, this is how it works.

Experts are the people with the top 3 records on a given team - the current top 3. When one of the top 3 makes a pick that loses, the are often, and at the start of the season, frequently, not in the top 3 anymore (hey, it happens). Therefore, at that time, we get different experts.

It is no conspiracy, nor is it some kind of way to get people on to the site (i.e. if we wanted to do that, we would blast email to everyone every week like wagerline does). In fact, we modeled it exactly on wagerline - which did the same thing as of, at least, spring of 06 when we were looking to replicate that feature.

Read it for what it is - the best records of people - up to that time - for a given team.

If you want real experts, read the good cappers here, and some of the people here with good unit counts over the long haul, or look at the RSI of cappers on wagertracker, which is a much more reliable indicator of strength of picks over time.

Until we get a consensus of more than a couple hundred plays, the experts feature will be near useless. But we will keep it in, as you never know when we will get that surge of players from the right google keyword hitting.

still don't understand why most of the picks are still at 100% on each team from week 1 - week 4. very misleading if you ask me. maybe a notice should be cited as to who these experts really are?

I agree about the disclaimer - it would save me about 2 emails per week explaining how it works. Personally, the feature is a computationally expensive pain in the ass that almost nobody uses and most people hate - I have half a mind to drop it entirely.
