It may be possible that you are telling the truth, but unless you actually post your picks and build up a record people will believe that you are just boasting. So why not post your picks?

Your question is kind of silly. Of course if you can make money from betting you shouldn't work. Nobody would. You should move to Vegas to make it all legal. You can bet all that you want in Vegas (by breaking up your bets between the dozen different casinos).

No offense intended here guys, but you're all very ignorant when it comes to the tax system. There is a box to check on IRS returns called Professional Gambler. You sum up your winnings, put it one box, and sum up your losses and put it an another box.

So first of all, I would have to be AUDITED in order for the IRS to realize I was betting on the internet. And even then, nothing would happen. The IRS doesn't give a ****, as long as they get their money.

Remember Al Capone, he was put in jail for avoiding income taxes. Better to report, than not to report.

Wow, I'm utterly amazed...yeah, you go ahead and do that. I'll be watching the news for the '1 guy in millions' who the IRS audits and throws the ******* book at. While you're at it, boast to your neighbors how much money you're making (cough cough) so that the first one you piss off will report you to speed up the process.

Yeah, we're the ignorant ones here...

? Yes maybe if you wanted to be on welfare. Seriously though.........it seems that we get a post like this yearly. This needs to fall under the Warlord sticky! Under...

You just may be a Warlord if you go into a gambling forum and ask other gamblers about their thoughts on gambling as a profession when you never post any picks so that you can be viewed as a worthy and competent gambler, to ask such a question, to which you would know the answer if you were worthy. Thanks for the laugh though!

I've thought about it before, but I made a post months ago about making a 10K run at it in Vegas. 10K is enough to tell if you can do it for real or not. By that I mean sure we all have good days and bad days. I play with hundreds though, its a HUGE difference wagerings K's. I've put a K down ONCE (talking about one game, not collectively), and won. It was not fun at all even thoguh I won.

Well, I dont want to say people here convinced me not to do it, but it really made me re think it and post pone it to an unknown date.

But hey, if you decide to do it, maybe I'll join you for a quick run at it.

Hmm..I don't know why this post is in the toilet, but oh well.

Yes, my CPA has a couple clients who are professional gamblers. You claim your winnings and your losses are tax deductable. There is more to it, he told me all about it but I doubt anyone here cares so I'll leave it alone.
