Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson fail pre-race inspection

Hendrick Motorsports teammates Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson failed inspection at Infineon Raceway on Friday, according to NASCAR.com.

Neither car will be allowed to practice or qualify Friday. Both cars will have to start Sunday's race from the rear of the field.

NASCAR is expected to announce penalties for both teams later Friday
