Tobey Maguire, Spiderman himself, was one of the players that were defeated by Ben Affleck at the Commerce Casino's California State Poker Championship but he soon made a strong comeback when in October 2004 he won $186,000 at a $2,000 buy-in tournament at the Hollywood Park Casino.
He also won the $2,000 Phil Hellmuth Invitational for $95,480 and cashes at the WPT and WSOP.
Poker legend Phil Hellmuth said this about Maguire: "He showed tremendous focus and determination. I predict that he will become one of the better poker stars."
Maguire is known to hold regular poker games for high rollers at his Hollywood Hills home, with players such as Dennis Hopper, Matthew Perry, Sharon Stone and Robert Downey Jr.
