    Ford

joepa..are you still holding all of your original investment of ford, or have you taken some positions out...assuming you have held it for at least a year. just wondering. nice move to buy it at that price, especially considering that ford wanted no bailout money. good call.

Fitter......still have it! In for the long haul with Ford and have only had it for about 7 months.....how about it jumping $.30+ per share yesterday and another $.10 today! Gotta keep a close eye on it now.

Learned a helluva lot about stocks, etc. in the last half of a year and feel quite comfortable with Scottrade and making my own decisions. I chose them over all the others because there is an office about 1/2 hour away if I need to talk with someone!

Also, have a couple more "spec" plays that I am watching....but BMY is a solid play and I'm looking to add to that position soon. They just split off from Meade Johnson......

          Scottrade

That may be the final item on my decision...just like you, Scottrade office is local here, within a 1/2 hour. Need to move some money around and get account open. Watch ford, and if there is an issue with earnings coming, pull your original investment out and hold the rest. Keep an eye on the pacific rim, china, etc. I know we all want American Co's to be the foundation of international economy, but it seems that china, brazil, etc will drive the globe in a turnaround. Annuities have had a nice rebound once I moved some money around into some funds concentrating on those areas. Just my opinion, and may share some others in time. If you are looking for some "outside the lines" advice, I've been a member of Motley Fools for some time now, and they do have some excellent advice MOST of the time. Just needed to get some expendable cash so I could get back into the investment arena....now I have a little to play with. BOL!! Not sure the turnaround is ready in full here in the USA yet, we shall see. Commercial paper still not in good shape, and not sure that anything has changed in the banking world. Citi, et all, are doing everything they can to pay off "loans", they don't want the govt telling them how much they can earn or capping their beloved bonuses!! But, there are some buys out there yet, and still not sold on retailers, but they have had a good run as well. We shall see.

Fitter.....not sure how high Ford may go, but you may want to look at the Ford Preferred stock (FpA) instead of the common stock (F) which is what I own.....just an FYI if you want to get in on them but the preferred is about $21 per share versus $9.45. I'm also looking at some muni bonds and also a play on China in the wireless market and solar energy! You should also look at mineral plays with mining companies supplying and working in China. As for Brazil, I'd like to invest in a few ladies prancing around during Carnivale......

Looking forward to your opinions and also hearing about Motley Fools.....

Maybe it was the dealer.......Ford really jumped today and at one point made it to the $11.24 mark per share. It's been on fire lately and I'm going to keep riding that bad body! WFT jumped about $2.00 from where I bought it. My portfolio is really doing well over all and I'm looking at building some positions along with a couple of BioTech spec plays for the new year.

i really like ford right now, bought a few more shares @ 9.9 and will keep buying it until it hits 12. at that point i will stop buying for a little while to see what it does. i really think it will get back to at least 25 by years end.

they are the only american car maker who didnt take a bailout and are still doing better than gm or chrysler.

                            ford

did some checking and will be buying some ford either on friday or monday. I own a new '09 F150 (bought in Feb '09) and I must tell you all, it is the best truck so far I ever owned. Now in fairness, I bought a very very nice 4x4, with all the bells and whistles, except for a moon roof. No biggie...but the improvements over the last 2 years on ford trucks is very impressive. I looked at GM, Toyota, and Chrysler products, but just thought that the ford was a lot better buy for the money, and ford actually was willing to negotiate for a change. I missed the early in on the stock, and I really did like it earlier, but needed to free up some money and put it into my stock acct...that happened today. So will also keep you abreast of some others I am looking at, and will share some Motley Fool interesting items.

NICE Fitter.......I'll be posting some of my other plays along with a couple of spec stocks as well. I like Ford (F) alot, but some say they like the Ford Preferred (FpA) better. The preferred stock is twice the cost of the common but I'm sticking with the common because it's really zooming off. I'm really focused on some China plays as well.
