Daws and Predict em cant thank you all enough, so far I have done amazing utilizing the tips found on this site as well as in this thread, I finally moved up to $10 units (starting hands $20) and as you said before Daws my bankroll has increased dramatically, I am sure i will be staying at this level for a while however :)
Daws, you mentioned the doubling down is killing you are you starting to hesitate on it or are you still sticking to the strategy?Last Wager placed 01/11/09 - Loss

I've been doing a little experiment over the past few weeks. I've been playing BJ at Sportsbook where they do not have the surrender option or allow you to split a hand that was already split once. I have had very little success at sportsbook and have rarely won 5+ hands in a row. At BetUS it is not uncommon for me to win 7,8 hands in a row. Maybe its luck or maybe its their system, but don't play BJ at Sportsbook if you can play at BoDog or BetUS.Comment

I got tired of sportsbook, not them personally I jsut got bored wiht the layout, and I needed a change. I have been solely at bodog, and am still doing wonderful, I hav not won more then 6 hands in a row, but I have started to cut back to 2 units after I have gotten to 5, so Ill do a $50 bet, then Ill scale back to $20. and that ends up being a smart move usually, I go throuhg bouts where the dealer keeps hitting bj, and then I also will kick myself for surrending when they hace 12, but in the end, still doint a great job with the startegy laid out here.. still afraid to take it to the felt primarily due to the rules that dont let me lower the house edge. No surrender, and only split on 9 10 11, it sucks!Last Wager placed 01/11/09 - Loss

Well I suffered a bad one last night, lost a pretty good amount, but I'm still up from all my winning sessions 3x my initial deposit so that is good, it does kind of play with your head yo start doubting what to do when you have a big loss like that. I played a bit today and was down really low again but I luckily got back up and cashed out +$35. I keep the strategy card in one window and the blackjack in another window, and while my book offers surrender I have been studying the rules as if they don't. Don't get me wrong I most definitely surrender when it calls for it, but I am trying to think to myself if I couldn't surrender what would I do, at this point just gearing up for the felt tables.Last Wager placed 01/11/09 - Loss

yea the rough ones will come. There will be more. Just a little bit of advice. Try not to play more than once a day and once a day is not really advisable. Once or twice a week I think is probably the best option. Not playing at all will probably save a lot of money lol. But the more sessions I play in a day, the more opportunities I have to give back profits.
Doing pretty well without doubling down too. I haven't found many missed opportunities by not doubling. I suppose it's all cyclical though.Comment

Yeah, I have decided to back off of it for the time being, I was playing daily and ending with a net increase of about +100-+150, per day. Then it all hit the down hill. I am still up a size able amount, well depends on definition of size able, but its at least doubled my original deposit :)Last Wager placed 01/11/09 - Loss

I play about once a week at a casino in the northeast, usually for 6-8 hours a session at a $25 minimum table. I employ basis strategy 100% of the time, with the only variance being surrender/no surrender when I have a 16 against a dealer 10 (I very rarely surrender, but will if the dealer is having a hot shoe).
I'm probably up a couple hundred for the year, but I've had some real bad runs (we're talking losing a grand or so betting straight $25 units in just an hour).
But I'm of the opinion that you HAVE to be aggressive in your double downs. My winning days occur if I hit a decent amount of 11s or 10s, or soft hands.Comment

Sorry to hear, how many decks were there? surrender Option? I am wondering if I can find a table with a surrender option when I go to Vegas in November.
your still at a + overall though right? how long did you play for? I notice on the machines playing strategy does nothing but let me slow down the amount of time I will be loosing, I have not once sat at a blackjack machine and cashed out with more then I put in
Bodog has turned back around and I am back up right before it felt like the doom switch was flipped on me and I lost a handsome amount. so far im up quite a bit still playing $10 units starting at $20.
Hoosier, do you have any sort of progression system? the one me and Daws favor is pretty nice i like it,Last Wager placed 01/11/09 - Loss

I can tell you that my best days have been when I flat bet $25 every single time while employing basic strategy religiously on every hand and NOT using the surrender option (where I am we have the option). I've walked away with close to a grand after grinding it out for 4-6 hours, usually.
I think the key with those days was being aggressive and subsequently winning most of my double downs. Also being aggressive with the splits. Dealers and the other players at the tables seemed to be a factor as well.
There are times where if I'm on a pretty hot shoe, I may bump my bet up to 50...but those times are rare. I really don't like to push it much, even though most people I meet recommend me doing as such.
I've screwed around with a system called "Oscar's Gamble" before on the $5 dollar table. In a nutshell, it's much more "conservative" version of the martingale system. Google it and you'll find something.
I'm not a big fan of progressive systems, but they can obviously work in certain circumstances.Comment

it was a 6 deck shoe. I am still up but I am very negative when playing at actual card tables with real cards. No surrender option either. At video blackjack tables i'm way up with the surrender option. I've found that the other players are the table matter a great deal because no one who stays at Resorts in AC knows how to play BJ!Comment
