    MLB Friday 7/20

    ytd 344-361 (+11.23 units)

Well, a nice 0-5 yesterday. I took Glavine to get rocked, he did, but Lowe sucked more. Took Hamels to shut down the pathetic SD offense, he did, but the Phils got blanked and lost 1-0. Took MIN and they blew way way too many chances and lost by a run in extras in a game they should have won by 2 or 3 runs in regulation....and so on and so on. Argh.

The first fade of the day:

    Arizona -123

    2 units

I know the Flubs are hot, but Marquis just sucks IMO. I don't often make plays based on the pitching matchup alone, but this appears to be one of those mismatches of major proportions. Hopefully Webb can rebound and at least have a respectable start, because between Marquis and the Flubs middle relief, that should be enough.

There are a bunch of gems on the card tonight IMO, pretty much all dogs too who I think are incorrectly dogged. Will make those plays in a bit.

    Pittsburgh Pirates +105

    2 units

I know exactly what the general public is going to look at here. Getting the almighty Oswalt at such a cheap number, and the fact that Roy Boy has had alot of success against the Pirates thru his career, so hell, it's a steal, right?

    Not IMO.

I would much rather look at the present, and the present tells me that Gorzelanny is a better pitcher than Oswalt right now, the Pirates are a better team than the A'holes right now, and there is a major situational advantage for Pittsburgh tonight.

    Oswalt:

    * 2-5 (6.48 ERA) on the road this year. That blows by anyone's standards, especially his
    * 1-1 (6.86 ERA) in the month of July
    * Got rocked to the tune of 10 hits and 8 ER by the Flubs in his last start. Granted the Flubs offense is red hot, but, those are numbers that are not very becoming of a guy who is supposed to be a superstar and draws lines as such, against any offense at any time.

    Houston:

Sucks on the road. Period. They're 16-33 on the road, and just managed to drop 2 of 3 to the lowly Nationals!! That is by far and away a large enough sample size to conclude that for whatever reason, they blow ass away from Minute Maid park....and how they can be favored on the road is just completely beyond me....especially when they don't even have the pitching advantage.

    Horrible. Completely wrong fave.
