    MLB Tuesday 7/3

    ytd 304-311 (+24.11 units)

    Pirates +140

    2 units

Cappuccino has some pretty poor numbers against Pirate teams that were worse than this one, while Youman performed decently in his first time around with the major league club. I also think it gives him an advantage in that no Brewers hitter has faced him before. I believe the public is being set up for what the books believe will probably be a possible Pirate W today with the seemingly low line taking the "better team" against the "****ty team with a AAA callup taking the mound as a fill in".

Adding this one right away while I'm at it. This line is going nowhere but up IMO....

      Reds -120

      2 units

There is a reason Zito is a dog here. Actually a few come to mind. First of all he has sucked this year. Second of all, alot of the reason he has sucked is because he has had control issues and has walked way too many batters....a trend that has followed him throughout his career. Third, he is a flyball pitcher. Combine those three things and put him in Great American ballpark against a team who can hit the long ball, and it doesn't make a recipe for success.

On the other hand, Harang is a horse when he's on, and that takes care of the bullpen issue for the Reds tonight.

2 bad teams, but I see a distinct advantage for the Reds tonight on the mound, so I'll lay the chalk.

:conf: Did ya look at who Zito has pitched against this year???? All contending teams, 4 division leaders, only 1 below .500 (hou) which he won with no problem givin' up 1 run in 7IP, he has had some great games this year, and has flopped a couple of times.... Tonight he goes against cincy:laughing: ... GL Stif, :beerbang: But sfg is by far my favorite play today...:beer2:

Well, I have to strongly disagree, lol. I do not like Zito's chances of holding down the CIN offense in that little yard. Much of his career he has had inflated success because of pitching in a big park not known for giving up the long ball (OAK)....and when he faces a slugging team in a smallish yard (see his stats @ NYY) he gets raped because his flyballs don't go to the warning track, they go out of the park.

If there's one thing the Reds CAN do, it's hit. Plus, pitching vs contenders doesn't mean they have better offense than Cincy. Cincy sucks because their pitching sucks, not cause they can't hit. I don't see that being a major problem tonight if Harang can give a good performance, which I believe he can against a Giants squad that is no better than the Reds.

Plus the Giants bullpen pretty much sucks almost as bad as the Reds if they do become an issue. I really can't find an advantage for the Giants in this one.

In any case anything can still happen, and it's just one play. I just have to play em how I see em, lol. One of us will win.

            Tribe +115

Detroit bats seem to have gone at least slightly cold, only scoring 7 runs in a 3 game series against the Twins, and getting 3 hit by Scott Baker in their last game on Sunday night. Byrd has been hot, and he doesn't walk too many, so the Tigers are gonna probably have to hit to score in this one.

Robertson makes his second start after coming off the DL with a "tired arm". He went 5 1/3 in his first start back, and I don't see him going much deeper tonight, meaning the pretty crappy Tigers pen will be making an appearance.

The Tribe already rung Robertson's bell once this season as well, and I like their chances of either doing so again, or getting to the Tigers bullpen, or both.

            St Louis +121

Still fading Randy Johnson. Let him prove he can still pitch before he's a road fave against a team who put up 11 runs in a Brandon Webb start last night. Like I said last time I faded him, herniated discs don't sound fun to pitch with. Completely the wrong fave here IMO.

            Texas +115

Another fade. Ervin Santana on the road. Texas is playing better, and it's well known how bad Ervin sucks on the road. To the tune of 1-6 with a 7+ ERA just this year to be exact. I realize the Angels are the "better team", but how any of that warrants a road fave line is beyond me.

Well, off the top of my head, I don't know anything about this Petit dude.

Basically I was just fading Johnson, and now that he's out, the play will be no action for me.

With the Cards being favored now, I doubt I'll be jumping back on them, especially not knowing anything about the Zona pitcher.

Too bad SF took captain control out. I coulda definitely used a few more free runs here since the Reds aren't hitting ****....
