    JML Friday >>>

    MLB YTD: 195-176, +15.70 Units

    Mets -135 (Hernandez) vs Phillies
Well...like everyone else (except stif i think), I'm taking the Mets...it looks too easy, but that will probably bite us....lol. Both teams have good bats, but there is obviously a large advantage on the hill for the Mets. Mets didn't play yesterday, Phils played an extra inning game late. Mets a very good road team. I'll bite.

    Braves -116 (James) vs Marlins
Johnson doesn't seem to have it at all since returning....strickly a fade of him....but James has been solid.

    Twins +106 (Santana) vs Tigers
Johan as a dog is an automatic play in my threads...I don't care if he's up against the '27 Yanks. Tigers without Sheff tonight? Morneau back for the Twinkies?

Blue Jays +123 (McGowan) vs Mariners
Pitching one of the best games in Jays history (2 batters away from a perfect game) gets you a large dog number against the wildly inconsistant Washburn? OK...

    1 Unit each

GL everyone....long weekend up here, so I'm heading north to Muskoka lakes region....enjoy the summer y'all....

    :beer2:

I took the Phils because they're playing far better baseball right now than the Mets are IMO.

Like Toronto though. I'm almost afraid to play it because to me it's so obvious that the wrong team is favored there that I almost pooped my pants when I saw the line, lol

Probably a dog play on Johann for me as well...just on principle. Verlander has been good, but Johann as a dog is difficult to pass up.....plus the Tigers pen still licks balls IMO.

Not sure about the hotter team....Phils are 5-5 in their last 10, Mets 6-4. And the Mets are coming off a sweep against OAK and 2 of 3 against STL...which is 5 of last 6...pretty hot. You might be right though...haven't been following that race too close (or the NL in general for that matter!). I guess I look at the starters alot when picking a side...maybe one of my capping weaknesses, IMO.

As for the Jays....yes, crazy...should be a pick'em IMO...M's have played well...but McGowan has ace stuff....just inconsistant because he is so green.

Twins is a no-brainer...no Sheff, and like you said...Tigers pen blows, and Minny has one of the best!

The way I see the Mets winning 5 of their last 6 is that Oakland is cold as hell in losing 9 of their last 12, and St Louis just sucks. The Mets should take at least 2 of 3 every time from those guys at home. Run production for the Mets vs against some pretty awful St Louis pitching in that series, that the rest of the league is pretty much lighting up all year, was putrid as well.

It appears they are able to hit this Durbin buffoon so far, but Hamels in game 2 just might be a different story, and I plan on playing Phills again in game 2 for the split if this one loses. If it wins, then game 2 will probably be a no play for me.

Well....Philly only won 4 of 6 over 2 worse teams in Cincy and STL. LOL!
              Anyway....who cares!

I will be on the Phils tonight as well if the Mets hold on to this blowout....

Nice call so far on the Brewers by the way

Yes, but I don't go by wins and losses when considering if a team is hot or cold, especially in a case like this when I was considering offenses.

Philly scored 25 runs in their last 3 games (granted against ****ty Reds pitching), and the Mets managed just 7 in the same period, and I really don't think the Cards have very good SP either.

I think El Duque is well past his prime as well, and when combined with the team who seemingly has the hotter bats coming in, homefield advantage, a decently sized dog line, and a chance to try and get it back in game 2 if Durbin gets nailed (which apparently he has), I thought Philly was well worth a shot for me this afternoon. Only way I can lose on the deal is if they get swept.....which I do realize is entirely possible....but like I said, it's a chance i'll take given the way I saw the situation.

As far as the Flubs, they just suck. See their defense in the 1st inning for an example, lol. Even when they get good pitching, they don't hit. When they get good pitching and hit, they find a way to lose with the gloves.

This Gallardo dude has done pretty well, and the Cubs have never seen him. The Brewers hit LHP very respectably. Flubs pen sucks too, while Milwaukee's is relatively solid (even though I still think that Turnblow guy is a complete bum)

Easy choice for me to take the dog in that game though. Granted I didn't expect Hill to be THIS bad, and the game is far from over, but I sure liked my chances of cashing this game. It's easy to say now with a 5-0 lead after the first, but the Brewers should have been favored today IMO, just like the Jays should be tonight.

And the Phils gave up 20 over those same 3 games. LOL. Philly really has no pitching outside of Hamels...starters or bullpen...there are only 3 worse team in all of mlb...so the play for me was really the huge pitching advantage for the Mets. Especcially with a kid starting who wasn't exactly lighting it up in the minors. I guess you were looking at offense, and I was looking at pitching. The way you have been picking...I'd rather be on your side, believe me!

I do see your point on it being worth a shot with the ability to back them in game 2...i doubt they get swept...

Sheffield should be in the lineup tonight... he's being benched Sat & Sun I believe.... Twins are 4-3 vs. the Tigers with Santana on the mound in the past two years, 1-2 in Detroit. With Verlander seemingly getting better with every pitch, this one is a tough call IMO, and I'll prob stay away. GL with the Twinks!

Thanks DD...I just figured that the suspension became "official" with it being changed from 3 to 2, and I assumed that it would start immediately because there is no more appeals necessary.
