    MLB Monday 5/14

    ytd 146-166 (-33.81 units)

Wow, a late collapse by Baltimore closer Chris "piece of ****" Ray yesterday costs me 6.70 units, and a dumb play by me on the Yanks (plus the Yanks inability to hit 95 mph fastballs right down the middle with NO movement on them) costs me another 3.80 units, and a good day turns into a big losing one. Luckily for me I made up for it in NBA plays. In any case, still climbing the hill, lol. I WILL make a profit this year in bases....

    Pittsburgh Pirates -125

Wow, no need to cap this. Obviously the books want you to play Florida. I mean really, well known "stud" Dontrelle Willis and the overachieving Fish vs the little known Gorzelanny and the ****ty Pirates, and the Pirates are a nice sized fave? Gimme the Buckos. Win or lose, I'm not falling for this set up. Not to mention the Fish suck. They just got swept by "the worst team in baseball" according to many....who may or may not be right....but still, they just got rocked right out of RFK to the tune of 19-10 by a team who sucks ass and can't hit, pitch (outside of Shawn Hill), or anything else. They couldn't even beat Jason Simontacchi, who hadn't won an MLB start in 4 years....so I have no reason to believe they will do anything useful off Gorzelanny.

    NY Mets -142

I fade the Flubs every time they face a lefty, and it's been paying off. They absolutely suck ass vs LHP. It's not only in the numbers, but it's easy to see if you watch them play. Some of the guys in the Flubs lineup seem so lost as though they couldn't hit a little league LHP. Some of them are ok, but even so, even if they get on, there are plenty of losers in the lineup to kill the rally.

So, does it get any better than this? Not just facing any old lefty today, but Tom Glavine....and a pretty good team in the Mets to boot....and I only have to pay -142? Should be -200 or more. POD.

    2 units each

Will probably add a few more, but these stuck out big time as soon as I looked at the card, so I went ahead and got them in already.

      gl today STIFF

agree 100% on your rationale for both of the picks, also with the Fish, if you look at their body language it seems like they are completely uninterested, i mean getting swept by the lowly nats and getting it taken to them as well....

For a sub.500 team, the Cubs sure as hell get a little too much respect IMO, Ramirez and Lee might not be in lineup tonight as well, and their pen sucks...Mets bats looked nice yesterday and I have the feeling Marquis is gonna come down to earth, and teh Mets bats sure can do that
To A Phillies World Series :beerbang:

Flyers and Eagles --- its your turn:beerbang:

      1 unit=25 dollars
2 units=50, etc.. and so on

I agree about Marquis. The Cards kept the guy off their post season roster last year for good reason IMO. The guy just isn't that good. Every pitcher has a few good games, or a good run, but in reality, in the end he's average at best. He has been his whole career, and he, and the Flubs are getting way too much respect all season long.

I honestly would have bet the Mets at -200 tonight, as I think they will win this game nearly every time. We'll see how it turns out.

As far as the Fish go, IMO they are still riding their unexpected finish last season in the eyes of the public. They look at them as a good team, when in reality, they are not. They're not even a .500 team. Same goes for Willis. He has an ERA of 5.40. That's not good. In comparison, Odalis Perez, a guy who just about everyone agrees sucks, has an ERA of 6.05, and that being against much tougher AL lineups with no pitcher batting and "free" outs.

IMO laying a bet on the Fish tonight is a classic example of betting on what might happen judging by past performance, against what should happen judging by the present....
