    tuesday bases

    (38-14)(+20.35 units) favorite bets
    (15-23)(-4.52 units) underdog bets

    (53-37)(+15.83 units) overall

All my plays yesterday were favorites and I got back on the winning track going 2-1 and picking up .84 units. My winners were Arizona and Houston and I lost with Atlanta. Here are today’s picks.

Angels -114 vs Cleveland……………..Angels are a very respectable 12-5 at home, so to get them at only -114 is a bargain. Cleveland left-hander Cliff Lee was awful during six May starts last year, going 1-4 with a 7.79 ERA. He was knocked around in his only start at Anaheim Stadium last year, allowing five earned runs and seven hits in five innings of work. Los Angeles starter Ervin Santana has been as good as it gets at home this season, a perfect 2-0 record with a 1.93 ERA. Hard to go against these sets of numbers. Angels look like a solid bet to me.

Pittsburgh +148 vs Cubs……….No cubs that the cubs are finally playing some good ball right now. But these are the Cubs and they will screw up. Ian Snell might not have a great won/loss record, but he has been very solid. After posting a 4.74 ERA last season, Snell has been lights-out this season with a 2.31 ERA through six starts. Snell has been particularily solid since mid-April, with a .309 OBP against and 1.26 WHIP. Bettors should note Snell's undefeated record on the road in 2007. This seems like it is worth the risk getting a quality pitcher like Snell at this price. I will take a shot.

Arizona -115 vs Phillies………….You guys out there must not think I am a phillies fan as many times as I have gone against them this year. I know when to pick my spots most of the time with this team and especially their pitchers. I hate Adam Eaton, not sure why the phillies signed him. He is some info I read about him this year. Eaton's stats suck all the value out of taking the Phillies tonight. Whether it's Eaton's 9.98 ERA in his last three trips to the bump, .455 OBP against, or absolutely brutal 2.22 WHIP, you would have to be reckless to bet on Philadelphia with Eaton taking the ball. Oddsmakers have the Phillies priced as +105 road underdogs for tonight's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Unless the fightin phils can put up at least seven runs tonight, I don’t see them winning this game.

Atlanta -123 vs San Diego…………..I lost with the braves last night, so I am coming right back with them tonight. A couple of no names throwing for both teams, so that should be a wash. My gut tells me the braves and the Jones boys are going to explode tonight and score a bunch of runs. Again, I seem to like these small home favorites this year. As you can see by my record I have had success with them. Hope my good luck continues.

I love Milwaukee tonight, but I am not playing them. I think the last six teams I liked, but did not bet because they were too big a favorite, all won. Those are the breaks. It only takes a couple of losses with favs that big to wipe out a good win streak with the heavy juice. You are better off just laying off those games. They will eventually catch up with you.

Good Luck Everybody!! Back on Wednesday.
