19 inning game ends with blown call (play at the plate)

Incredible ending in the pitt/atl game. 19 innings and the ump blows an EASY call at home plate. Unbelievable. Check out espn higlights. You wont believe your eyes.

maybe im blind but the second angle they show from the 1st base foul line, it looks as if he never applies the tag till the base runners foot is well past him and on the plate...

the first angle from 3rd base looks like a for sure blown call, but it may be a misleading angle i am really tired but just i dont see the tag applied to batters leg until after he is past the catchers waist...

    maybe im wrong

Well nothing would surprise me. I didn't see this play but the ump in the Seattle/nyy game was all over the place with his strike zone (in nyy favor) when Seattle was actually mounting a threat in the 8th last night too. NYY pitcher (Robertson or something) couldn't throw a strike to save his ass but ump kept bailing him out on pitches a foot or more outside till the ****ty Seattle hitters swung at bad pitches (after what should have been walks - with bases already loaded) and made outs, ending the threat

I was on the Pirates :(

But to the Braves credit, the Pirates and two straight innings with a runner on second and one out and couldn't get anything in...

How does the umpire and league come out and say they missed it then??

I ref and ump high level ball on the side and that was a terrible call. First the tag was made and everyone knows that. Second in that situation you never guess whether someone missed a swipe tag, you don't decide that game. He feels terrible but that does not change the fact he booted that call.

i dont see how u can say he made the tag we had crappy angles of the play, he was right on top of it,

besides everyone is human mistakes happen...

but still everytime i see it from the 2 angles i get, from 3rd base line i see the tag applied at start of slide but when u flip to camera b from first base line what i thought was a tag does look at all like a tag, the glove hits the leg well after the foot of the runner passes the catcher....

now i dont see the plate in the first base angle so when i see a legit tag i dont know where the foot is in relavence to the plate, but from what i normally see catchers usually have there left foot on or right in front of the plate, which in this case means if he was there than this looks like a safe play from the first base line camera angle...

i dunno i have watched it 100 times and i still cant come up with a for sure answer...

JUST ANOTHER REASON WHY FOOTBALL IS BETTER THAN BASEBALL REPLAYS:beerbang:
