i think he still lives in houston, so the stipulations may be that he only pitches when they play in texas. plus they must sacrifice a dead hooker and two goats before he takes to the mound. :beerbang:

              Overall Records

Each play is to win the # of units posted unless it's a dog then I'm betting that amount.

Vaz - It's prorated. His contract would be worth $28 million had he played all year but if he comes in on June 1st then he will receive $4.67 million a month which equates to $18.67.... The Sox offered him an $18 million prorated contract.

Right back over $200 million for the Yankees! What a ******* joke..... The guy will be 45 before the season is over.

The Yankees are the laughing stock of Major League Baseball.

                    What a joke.

I can't help but agree, but the unfortunate fact the Yankees aren't the only team who is paying a fortune to field a team. They just spend more "freely" i suppose you could say, as in they pay guys who aren't worth **** a bunch of money. I have no idea, but I would be willing to bet that if you took the salaries of the Yankees who actually mean something to the team, and took the salaries of the Red Sox in the same boat, the gross salary for each team would be very similar. I mean really, if the BoSox would have landed Clemens, their gross salary would have been over $160 mil.

I don't agree with the way baseball is as far as salaries go. It makes for bull**** baseball....BUT, it annoys me when people say well the poor Red Sox have to pay all these guys a ton of money to compete with the Yankees when, no they don't. See Detroit Tigers 2006, Chicago White Sox 2005, Florida Marlins 2003, LA Angels of 2002 or whatever it was when they won the WS, etc.....all of which either beat the Yankees on their way to a world series title, or went deeper into the playoffs and had a more successful year than NY with a much lighter salary.

So IMO ANY team spending a ton of money to bring in all these free agents is as much of a joke as the Yankees. It's not just them....yet the only one ever mentioned is the Yanks.

Disclaimer (lol): I'm no Yankees fan, even though this makes it sound like I am. I just think they're all a joke who overspend.

This has nothing to do with Clemens or the Yanks, but I didn't want to open a new thread for it...

WHY do they keep harping on this Barry Bonds thing? WHO CARES who likes him and who doesn't? WHO CARES who wants him to break the record and who doesn't?

All I'd hear is that he only hit all these HR's cause he was juicing. Well, maybe he was, but, he's sure doing pretty well this season. So is he juicing again and somehow sliding it past MLB?

Lets face it, weather you like him or hate him, Bonds is a great player. And, he's certainly one of hundreds who juiced, if not thousands if you go back some time. Why didn't they all hit 70 homers and break the HR record?

I just don't like the way so many people's argument on this issue is so shallow. They hate Bonds because HE'S the one who broke the single season record, and because he was an ass before doing so. Yet no one hates a guy like Bret Boone for doing the same thing, LOL....because he didn't break any records.

My point is that I wish ESPN would give it a freakin rest with this. There are plenty of players in every sport who fans either love or hate, but the reason Bonds is in the spotlight is because he's about the break the all time HR record, and none of those guys are.

When the next guy is in line to break either the single season HR record or the all time HR record, 50% of the public will probably find a reason to dislike him too, lol

                          That will be Alex Rodriguez.

As for the economics of baseball, it's almost not even worth wasting breathe on at this point and hasn't been for 15 years. It's just a ridiculous situation and is only talked about less than it should be because of the recent ineptitude of the Yankees teams once they made the playoffs.

Yes, but not one of those teams plays in the AL East against them all year, every year. They made it into the playoffs with a worse record winning a weaker division (or WC), then had a puncher's chance in the playoffs where all bets are off. Alot of those teams wouldn't have made the playoffs at all playng the AL East, and the fairytale story wouldn't have had the chance to be told. I think that is why the Yanks "division opponents" have the right too bitch at this kinda stuff. The Sox, Orioles and Jays have to play the 200 mil team 20+ times every year, and most likely not get a chance at playoff underdog success because the Yanks are around 100 wins every year. The Angels or Tigers will just need to beat them in a 7 game series in October...where anything can happen as we have seen recently. Just saying that if i was a say, an Indians fan, this wouldn't affect me at all, but I bet sure as **** there is some pissed off Massechusetts water-coolers today...

We'll see how he does....he has been amazing at this age, and is always fun to watch...bring it on! LOL
