    Sunday Baseball Picks

    YTD: 56-50-1 +13.56 Units

Tampa Bay Rays -225 (4.5 to win 2)

The Orioles traded Andrew Cashner to the Red Sox so had to call up Tom Eshelman to start today's game. Last year in AAA, the young righty was 2-13 with a 5.84 ERA, while allowing a whopping 189 hits in only 140 innings. He gave up 21 dongs in the process. This kid had great college numbers but that doesn't translate into pro success. The knock on him is that he doesn't possess a good off-speed pitch nor does he get much movement. He lacks velocity as well, as he rarely throws over 90mph. To bolster my point, he was drafted in 2015 by the Astros and has already bounced around to the Phillies and now Orioles. He gets too much of the plate without overpowering stuff. This will likely translate into disaster vs. a Rays squad that has put up double digits in 2 of 3 games in this series. My only worry is will the Rays show fatigue after playing a twin-bill yesterday. I'll take my chances with a hot TB offense and lay the -225.
