    Friday

One for me to start the day before it falls to the other side.

    Washington +115 4 Units

I love the Nats facing Charlie Haeggar tonight. It's kind of a perfect storm and we get plus odds for now. Haeggar is hit or miss and really for the most part has rather poor numbers in the majors. If he misses we will be in the Dodgers pen early and that isn't a good thing for them, especially after the amount of work they have already had this week. The Nats have been a patient hitting team and that should be beneficial against Charlie and his knuckleball tonight and they also have been putting a decent amount of speed in the lineup each day. Everyone in the lineup except Zimm and Dunn has a steal and I wouldn't be surprised to see that be a big part of the gameplan as well.

With Washington we get one of their prospects, who was a first round pick of the Atlanta Braves before he had Tommy John surgery. He is a power pitcher with a good sinking fastball which if he can keep it down should allow for a decent to good outing. The Dodgers will be resting some players either today or tomorrow and Joe Torre is someone that doesn't always rest the players for the day game and may opt to rest some of the guys today and play them tomorrow to back Kershaw. He did the same thing to Haeggar last week and went with his backup squad although that was against Lincecum. And with Manny leaving the game with a calf yesterday I would expect a minimum of him and Martin being out.

    I'll have some more later.

I haven't seen him pitch but he has improved through the minors, was a top prospect at one time. I also like to go with guys that depend on a sinking fastball to produce groundballs as they can get hit hard and hold them to singles. Obviously if the ball gets up he's in trouble but since he has pitched well at AAA I think it's worth a shot. I wish Zimm was in the lineup today (it looks like he has the day off again) but they have him on the bench for a big at bat late if needed.
