The true definition of a perfect game is the Indians winning a clinching game in the World Series. I have a better chance of nailing Jennifer Aniston.

    :beer2:

Quite frankly, I do not think a no hitter should be called a no hitter unless one pitcher does it. Should be called a lameass hitter.

not to wholly refute Stif's point, but today's game would be a good example of Buehrle getting his perfect game saved by an incredible catch!

      - I guess it works both ways, an ass clown botching a routine play to screw up a pitcher's hard earned effort, and another like today that in spite of Buehrle's tremendous effort, he got bailed out on his ONE mistake.

great footage, and seems like a great game either way

Yeah, I would have to agree that Buehrle's perfect game proves that it is a team sport. That catch was amazing. It's actually too bad that the pitcher is the only one creditted with the stat.

Yea, it's funny how this happened just a few weeks after Uribe booted away Sanchez's perfect game.

Think about it. There have now been, i believe 257 no hitters thrown in mlb history, and just 18 perfect games, if you count Larsen's one in the world series.

That's a tremendous difference, and obviously the perfect game is far more prestigious. Sucks bad for a guy like Sanchez, who imo pitched every bit as dominantly as Buehrle, to have that taken from him by some suck ass fielder making an error.

One thing that can be said for Buehrle though, he did it against TB, a great hitting team. That's impressive....

This is how this game has been recorded in the history books. I think it credits the team as well

Buehrle was assisted by a dramatic ninth-inning wall-climbing catch by center fielder DeWayne Wise to rob Gabe Kapler of a home run. This was the first major league perfect game in which the pitcher and catcher were working together for the first time; Ramón Castro had been acquired by the White Sox less than two months before. This was also the first perfect game to feature a grand slam, by Josh Fields in the bottom of the second inning. Umpire Eric Cooper, who called the game, was behind the plate for Buehrle's previous no-hitter, as well.
