    FU Manny

    Turning down a 25 million dollar deal? Poor Manny. These crybaby athletes are KILLING ticket prices. Selfish pricks!

    LOL yea, how a guy can turn down 25 mil to play 1 season is beyond me. Would have made him the 2nd highest player in baseball for the upcoming season, behind choke-rod, i think.

    Must be tough to require a gross salary of more than 480,000 PER WEEK if you project it out as if it was paid over 52 weeks.

    I realize 40% or so is taken in taxes, and whatever % the agent takes, but still you're gonna see a NET profit of at least 10 to 12 mil I'd say, just to play 6 months of baseball....

    Like i said, times must be tough in the Ramirez household....

        I heard the Giants are lookin in that direction now, but it might just be an Internet rumor.

        I don't care where he goes, as long as he doesn't come to Anaheim...

          I hope Boras blows this deal for his client like he blew the Varitek deal. The GMs should collude, and Manny ends up getting 20 Mil over 2 years...

            reports this morning are that the dodgers will open up talks with him again today. what are they thinking? Im from beantown and would love watching manny and boras search for deals as the season draws closer. the dodgers shouldn't up the offer at all, nobody in the league is going to offer him more than 20 mil per, plain and simple nobody can afford it! IMO the dodgers would be better off with hudson and abreu, (not dunn, who IMO is overrated). make the bid for abreu with a 1 yr deal and then make your free agent splash next year for a younger guy like holiday. the division is weak enough for the dodgers to win it without manny, spending 25+ million on a 37 year old just doesnt seem like a wise investment to me

              37 is beyond ripe for that kind of cash.

              You KNOW that one day his numbers are going to fall off HUGE.

              Greed=Fat ticket prices.

              How are kids supposed to afford tickets? Today's youth is tomorrows future. I hope this recession/depression affects MLB and puts things back in perspective. The greed has run rampant.

                after the Annnnnnndrrrrrrrrruuuuuuuuuuuuu Jones debacle i would be surprised to see the doyers give anything long term for a while in the 20M range and up.

                What i would be scared about singing manny has to do with what if he pulls another Red Sox. He doesn't get the contract that he wanted, so he takes like 20M from a club for a year or 2 and then proceeds to be a complete Jake like he was in Boston his last year and pouts his way around.

                No doubt he has great career numbers...top 15 OPS all time, but at his age i wouldn't be handing out anything long term and large in value. There are very few teams that can afford to eat a sizeable bad contract and remain competitive.

                I hope the guy rotts as i said.
