PHI is just the better team.
The NL west was pretty much a battle of 5 sisters of the poor this year, and the Dodgers made the right move to get the guy they needed to get over the top and win the division.
Beating the choking Flubs and their overrated pitching staff only added more fuel to the fire, and got more people in their camp as a legit contender, but all I see now is the same old LAD team who struggled all year, especially on the road, going up against one hell of a potent PHI lineup, and a PHI bullpen (the back part) that just doesn't blow saves....ever, and falling 3 of 4 times.
I mean PHI beat the LAD with their #4 going against the LAD ace last night, and @ LAD. That says it all.
I know Lowe did fine on short rest vs NYY in like 2005, and he did ok vs PHI last night really....but still only lasted 5 innings. I gotta believe on full rest he goes further, and the reality is that 3 days rest is not ideal. There is a reason guys pitch on FOUR days rest for the entire season, despite most of the #5 guys in these rotations sucking ass, which leads me to that fact that I think Torre is a turd for not using Kershaw and/or Maddux....but that's an entirely different story all together.
I like Kershaw alot, and you can't tell me a wily old vet like Maddux couldn't go out there and give you a few solid frames.
Yea well, it's all history now. Billingsley better pitch his ass off in game 5 vs Hamels (unless Hamels is going to pull a Lester, LOL), or the only team even going back to Philly will be the Phillies.
