4 plays for the final day of the reg season...

....and what an odd season it's been for me. Started in a slump and was about -40 units out of the gate, then got red hot for about a month and a half and got all the way to +101 units, then couldn't pick a single winner for a few weeks straight and back down to about even, then back to almost +40, and now hanging around just above the + line for the last month or so.

    ytd 736-752 (+7.25 units)

    NY Yankees +110 (Mussina)

Moose goes for #20. Boston still an outside shot to win the division i guess, but it isn't too realistic....

    Flubs +240

How many times can CC throw on 3 days rest? How many games can the Brewers lose and still be in contention because the Mets are just as bad?

    Texas +115

Saunders started hot, now he kinda sucks. There's a reason Scioscia dropped him from the rotation. Nothing for the Angels to gain here. Nice value for a team who can hit.

    Arizona -130

Maybe the last game for R.J.? He's getting pretty old and worn down. If so, i think they can send the slam dunk hall of famer out a winner against one of the worst road pitchers in MLB....

Upon further review, Boston CANNOT win the AL East, as Tampa has already clinched it. My bad...

GL Stif :beerbang: BTW, the Season is not over just yet! CWS still has detroit to play, then CWS and MIN could end up with a tiebreaker game, so can the METS & BREWERS..

I dont think so, if Tampa loses today and Boston wins the doubleheader then there will be a tiebreaker game.

Tampa clinched with the Boston loss on Friday, I think.

Each play is to win the # of units posted unless it's a dog then I'm betting that amount.

yea, Tampa had it clinched before yesterday. I guess because they won the regular season series or something. Determining which team wins the division is different than determining if a team is in or out, from what I understand anyway....although I guess that doesn't make sense either since MIN and CWS are possibly playing for the division title tomorrow if CWS wins today, LMFAO.

Who knows....but originally I was thinking the same thing though, because had Boston swept the DH and TB lost, neither of which happened anyway, they would have ended up with identical records....but then I saw on cbs sportsline that TB had already clinched the division title.

            Whatever, lol

yesterday cbssportsline showed tampa (x) but also showed boston (y) and with a (1), because tampa only had 96 wins, and boston had 94 wins with 2 games to play! There is ONLY 1 tiebreaker in baseball, play head to head! :beer2:

The season is still not over: MIN - CWS Tiebreaker!

                OK, that makes sense then.

So my next question is this....

WHY is tonight's game at CWS when they had the same reg season record (obviously), and MIN won the season series between the 2 teams?

Shouldn't that in some way entitle MIN to homefield advantage?

Do you have something against the city of Chicago? I saw you slamming on the Cubs in another thread and now on the W. Sox.

You'd think so, but they had a coin flip before the season and the White Sox won it so they get home field.

                    "Tiebreaker scenarios determined

NEW YORK (AP) -- The Chicago White Sox won a coin flip with the Twins on Friday and would host Minnesota if the teams need to play a tiebreaker for the AL Central title.

The White Sox led Minnesota by one game, the tightest race in the majors.

Major League Baseball held a series of coin flips for teams that began the day within 5 1/2 games of a playoff spot.

The Boston Red Sox would host Tampa Bay in a one-game tiebreaker for the AL East championship. Fenway Park also would be the site if Boston and Minnesota need to play for the AL wild card.

In the NL, Philadelphia would host the New York Mets for the East title, Los Angeles would host Arizona for the West crown and Milwaukee would host the Chicago Cubs in the Central.

If two teams from the same division finish in a tie, and both are guaranteed a playoff spot, they do not play. Instead, their head-to-head record determines which club is the division champion and which one is the wild card. The second tiebreaker is the best divisional record.

Any playoffs, if necessary, would be scheduled for Monday, Sept. 29.
                    Complete tiebreaker scenarios

                    AL East
Boston vs. Tampa Bay -- Fenway Park, Boston

                    AL Central
Minnesota vs. Chicago White Sox -- U.S. Cellular Field, Chicago

                    AL Wild Card
Minnesota vs. Boston -- Fenway Park, Boston

                    NL East
Philadelphia vs. N.Y. Mets -- Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia

                    NL Central
Milwaukee vs. Chicago -- Miller Park, Milwaukee

                    NL West
Arizona vs. Los Angeles -- Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles

                    NL Wild Card
Philadelphia vs. Milwaukee -- Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia
Houston vs. Milwaukee -- Minute Maid Park, Houston
St. Louis vs. Milwaukee -- Busch Stadium, St. Louis
Houston vs. Philadelphia -- Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia
St. Louis vs. Philadelphia -- Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia
St. Louis vs. Houston -- Busch Stadium, St. Louis

Note: If two clubs from the same division are tied but both are assured of participating in the postseason, then the first tie-breaker to determine which club is the Division Champion and which club is the Wild Card would be their 2008 season-series record. The second tie-breaker is divisional record."

He's not slamming...its a valid point...in any other sport h2h would get home field. I heard that they do a coin flip b/c they need to know well in advance where the game will be played for scheduling, travel, etc...and the season series might not be known until the last few days in some cases.

When did i slam the Flubs? I mean yea, i call em the Flubs, and I did say I think their bullpen might cost them the series vs LAD because Kerry Wood sucks monkey poo, but other than that, I've been pretty easy on the Flubs lately

Now that I remember, someone asked me last week if i had issue with the state of Colorado because I bet on whoever kicked their ass on Saturday? WTF? LOL

Hell, i don't have issue with anyone specific....i slam all teams equally....including the ones i root for....if they deserve it.

I don't see how what I said here constitutes slamming anyone, however. I simply asked how CWS got homefield advantage in this game, when MIN won the season series :dunno:

                        BTW....**** the Bears

just kidding. They won for me on Sunday night

I think they should play head to head in Houston.
