    ~~ BIFF'S BASES - AUG. 5th ~~

I've officially had enough of this Moyer vs. the Marlins talk. 10-0 in 10 starts is indeed amazing, you really can't say that's a "fluke". But I'm wondering, what's stopping a 42-year old 70-80 mph control pitcher from having an off night against a divisional team with one of the better offenses in the league? He knows where he needs to put it on these guys, that's for sure... he still has to do it however. Moyer has been pitching out of his mind these past few months, best he's done in back to back months in 3-4 years easy. It's safe to say he isn't peaking at his ripe age, and the Marlins right now are in the heat of this NL East race with the Phillies. I'm not playing any sort of "due" factor here, to me this is common sense. With each win against the Marlins at this point in his career, he is more likely to lose the next!

I like the plus odds on Josh Johnson tonight. He has seen his team go 4-0 in his starts so far this year. He's got so-so stats, but bottom line is he's giving his team a chance to win, doing so once already this year against the Phils. I think once Moyer loses to the Marlins, his value will be shot in the leg. I like Amezega hitting 8th in front on Johnson. If he gets on, he can turn a bunt single into a man on 3rd with one out and Hanley up. Hanley's opposite number Rollins has been a shadow of his MVP self. For the most part, the Phils bats were pretty quiet in St. Louis. I have been horrible picking road dogs this year, so I really am trying to cut back... (of coarse they've been on a tear the past few days). This one doggy I can't let go. Brewing up a parlay before league tonight. Good Luck tonight ladies and gentlemen.

Anyone like the crappy A's tomorrow?

I don't like getting too caught up in trends, but when they are applied in the right fashion, they can be money in the bank. I'm really liking the coin flip odds on Duke tomorrow in Toronto. The A's are 8-21 Since July, losing 6 wednesday games in a row tying their current 6-game Saturday losing streak which is also active. Before those two, the longest streak they had on any one day was one 4-game Sunday streak that recently ended and two 3-game streaks earlier in the year. Once again, I don't feel this is any sort of "due" factor when you have a Duchscherer v. Marcum matchup.

        Biff,

Good luck on those Fish, especially since I don't have the Philles (I'm not on this game at all). I like the Duke tomorrow. The A's are due to snap out of this funk.

Definitely thinking Duke tomorrow Murph.

BTW, I'm not sure why I said road underdogs were on a tear the past few days... I'm thinking of home underdogs that have been hitting lately. I've been bad with underdogs in general. That statement in my first post doesn't make sense I'm sorry. :beer2:

Here's is my parlay for the night. I obviously would not be laying big chalk on Boston even though I think Beckett goes 8 innings, and somewhat risky yet very good value play on St. Louis with the Manny inflated Dodgers. Very nice combo however at over 2 to 1 odds.

washed up haz bin? has been u mean, and still is....

The guy is 10-6 with an ERA of 3.79, how can you talk anything bad on this guy,has beens dont put up those kind of numbers and he is a total class act and he's doing all this at the age of 45, not many pitchers are winning 10 games in a season when they are 45 years old man, get off the guy's nuts...Wasn't his best outing ever tonight, but he still went 5 and only gave up 2 and kept his team in the game. the guy is a great guy around the clubhouse and he has helped all of the pitchers on our team develop and he has given some extra guidance

Philly & Discipline... I realize you weren't talking to me, but since you posted in my thread I'll comment. I said there was no doubting his recent performance as amazing, but if you are putting Moyer on some sort of pedistle, I think he needs to come down. I understand you sticking up for your hometown boy, and I hope his bag of magic tricks continues to get it done for the Phils this year. At the age of 45 he has shown that old-timers can still play, a real life Billy Chapel. Still there needs to be a distinction in betting with your head and your heart. Betting on Moyer from here on out has to be one of the more riskier options in my opinion.

3-1 yesterday, dropping the pricey total, but still a solid day.
