I've officially had enough of this Moyer vs. the Marlins talk. 10-0 in 10 starts is indeed amazing, you really can't say that's a "fluke". But I'm wondering, what's stopping a 42-year old 70-80 mph control pitcher from having an off night against a divisional team with one of the better offenses in the league? He knows where he needs to put it on these guys, that's for sure... he still has to do it however. Moyer has been pitching out of his mind these past few months, best he's done in back to back months in 3-4 years easy. It's safe to say he isn't peaking at his ripe age, and the Marlins right now are in the heat of this NL East race with the Phillies. I'm not playing any sort of "due" factor here, to me this is common sense. With each win against the Marlins at this point in his career, he is more likely to lose the next!
I like the plus odds on Josh Johnson tonight. He has seen his team go 4-0 in his starts so far this year. He's got so-so stats, but bottom line is he's giving his team a chance to win, doing so once already this year against the Phils. I think once Moyer loses to the Marlins, his value will be shot in the leg. I like Amezega hitting 8th in front on Johnson. If he gets on, he can turn a bunt single into a man on 3rd with one out and Hanley up. Hanley's opposite number Rollins has been a shadow of his MVP self. For the most part, the Phils bats were pretty quiet in St. Louis. I have been horrible picking road dogs this year, so I really am trying to cut back... (of coarse they've been on a tear the past few days). This one doggy I can't let go. Brewing up a parlay before league tonight. Good Luck tonight ladies and gentlemen.
