    ~~ BIFF'S BASES - JUL. 31st ~~

First up for me, I'm going out on a limb with Sanchez. He's coming off Tommy John surgery, but I think he'll be very very focused in this game despite the debut jitters. I usually like to wait for a pitcher to get a couple games under his belt, but this might be the cheapest price I'll get all year on him. He took the easy road in rehab, but he still pitched 28 innings in 5 starts, working over 100 pitches in his last rehab start. He gave up a total of 9 runs on 23 hits while only walking 10 and racking 25 punchouts. He also didn't give up the long ball once. Very good numbers for the young gun Sanchez who was a rookie phenom two years ago and tossed a no-no on 9/6/06. It will definitely be an emotional night for Sanchez who lost his infant child just a few months ago, and I know he'll be pitching with that in mind. He also won't be under any sort of pitch count, so if he's dealing he could go 7-8 innings giving the ball to a good duo of Waechter and Gregg. Rockies are sporting a putrid 5-12 record in their 1st game of a series on the road, and De La Rosa is a chump, always has been and always will be in my mind. He's yet to have 3 QS in a row in his career as a major league pitcher, I find the odds of him doing that tonight very very unlikely. The fact that he still has a job in ANY rotation surprises me. Rockies have been swinging hot bats recently, but they have been facing some horrible pitching from the Pirates for most of those games. I'd take anyone in that Florida rotation against De La Rosa on the road at this price, but Sanchez especially has a ton of upside, and very little downside. Marlins should be closer to -140 on this game, but I think the debut of Sanchez and the Rockies bats are keeping this one closer to a toss-up on paper... not in my book though. I hope the rain blows over, because I'm excited to see Anibal the animal on the mound.

Looking like this might be my last play. I'm looking at the late game, but it's hard to find an edge. Possible play, but not likely. Good Luck tonight gents!

Well the monthly profit streak is finally broken. It was appropriate that the reason I went from being on my hottest streak of the year to my coldest streak of the year was due to yet another blown game from relief pitching. However, it's just a number, and holds no bearing on my future as the season is still far from over. I really should have just played the Marlins bigger because I liked that play so much more, but ces't la vie. I usually have 1-2 downer months every year, so I'm glad that one is out of the way. I got a real bad feeling it was coming when my luck turned ice cold after the break and my best month turned into my worst. My goal for every sport is 10K, and I'm still in very good position to make that for the 4th straight year in as many attempts. August should be fun, especially with football gearing up.
