    ~~ BIFF'S BASES - MAY 23rd ~~

I might be playing with fire laying money on the Rangers on back to back road games, but Gabbard's stuff looks better than it has in a long while. He's reported feeling that way as well. I took a loss with him in his first losing game at home in his career, and I think he's focused on working his road game now. He shouldn't have too much trouble with the Indians. Hafner's stock is definitely falling already, and no Victor behind the plate tonight with the split cuticle. Since the trouble is with hitting, he won't be PH most likely. Carmona can struggle with his control, and I really don't like either bullpen over the other, although I like that Wilson is getting on track. Mainly a pick due to the great value here. Should be much closer to a -130/+120 game in my book with the way the Rangers have been rolling. Hope Hamilton's bat can stay hot.

Tampa... Cavorca... We're off to a good start... hope Gabbard can get it together. :th:

This next one I'm getting some nasty juice for a prop bet, but I'm 100% sold on it so I hope it's worth it. These are two of the NL's top 5 offensive lineups up against two contact pitchers. Backe has had much better control in his past two starts, but that only means the pitchers are over the plate now. Less walks, more hits. It's been my belief that Eaton has had crap stuff for a couple years now. The fact that he hasn't been hit hard more often this year makes me like this more. However, the trend on this game is that in the last 12 home games for Houston with a total of 10 or 10½ the under is 12-0. I don't see how you can't chalk up at least 10 hits for both teams. If that only creates 10 runs, well then I should be somewhat covered taking the prop bet instead.

          PHILLIES/ASTROS - TOTAL H+R+E OVER 30½ (-135)

          *RISKING $405 TO WIN $300

I fell 4 H/R/E short in a sad offensive attempt by both teams. Houston won thanks to Hunter Pence, getting practically zero production from Tejada, Berkman, and Lee. Combined 2 for 10. Likewise, the Phillies had two chances with runners on 2nd and 3rd in the late innings and they failed to put any across. Once Backe pitched around Utley to get to Howard and the big fat K we all knew he was good for. Just a rough break in a game that could have easily sailed over. At least the Rangers put up a big number to hold off the Tribe. A winning day none the less, all that matters to me right now. Back tomorrow.
