Johnny, glad you're becoming a more disciplined bettor. By far it is the most important lesson I've learned in betting sports... and I learned the same way all successful cappers do. Through experience and picking up tips from others as you go along. More disciplined = more consistent (no bad losing streaks = consistent money).

I've seen losing streaks come from two places... 1) chasing losses (in the literal "blind betting" sense) and 2) second-guessing yourself. Some rough luck can occur, but over time luck is never more than half of anything. You might think only one of those is fixed through practicing discipline, but both are. You aren't making chase bets if you form a disciplined betting rule. I go with flat bets at 1% of my bankroll 3/day for MLB. I've made a 4th bet once this year, and I lost it. Served me right! As for second-guessing yourself, discipline over time forms a confidence in your ability that alleviates the "fade yourself" tendency that a losing streak would provoke. Naturally, they stop happening.

Daily betting is still an emotional vice no matter how disciplined you are. But just like smoking or drinking... a couple smokes/drinks/bets a day won't kill you. But if you aren't in control then you're in a downward spiral that gets worse and worse. Heck it only took 3 years of me betting on every game I THOUGHT I knew about until I realized the more bets you make the more you'll have a tendency towards 50% and just lose your whole bankroll to house juice over time.

I'll save you the rest. I'm not looking to hop on a soap box and claim like I know it all, but I hope this can give some more insight on my philosophy I’ve been trying to spread around here. Crazy as it might seem, I'm not looking for followers, or to earn everyone's respect here. For me it has always been about trying to spark thought and conversation about these games that we bet on every day. Cause I myself still have things to learn.

Now when I said baseball was my specialty, means I enjoy it the most, know more about it, and have been playing/capping it longer than any other sport. That doesn't always mean it's the most profitable for me year in and year out. Lifetime, it's made me the most money, but I've been betting it twice as long as basketball. I do bet less per wager on MLB than in the NBA or NFL. I determine my bet amount based on how many bets I make per season in relation to my bankroll. I make more baseball bets than I do football or basketball, so they're smaller.. but that only means I should be making about the same in all sports. Good Luck the rest of the year, and let's make some money!
