    JML Tuesday >>>

    MLB YTD: 79-81, -32.56 Units

Another amazing performance by the Jays pitching staff. They now have a 1.33 ERA in their last 9 games.

Red Sox +104 (Action) vs Tigers - 2 Units
Fade of Robertson...he has consistantly given up 4 or 5 ERs in every start this year, and should at least do that against a hot Sox lineup that hits lefties well. Robertson also does not go deep into games (5.2 avg), leaving that bad Tigers bullpen in a spot to likely pitch at least 4 innings.

    Red Sox/Tigers OVER 9.5 -120 (Action) - 4 Units
I already like Boston to score 5 off Robertson and (at least) a couple off the Tigers bullpen, so that would only leave two runs from the Tigers for the Over to hit. Wakefield has been consistant this year, but usually gives up 3 runs or so...add that to the fact that Boston's bullpen has not been good at all this year, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a few late runs by Detroit making a run at the win....in fact, both bullpens are ranked in the bottom third of the league.

Cardinals -104 (Looper) vs Rockies - 2 Units
Fade of Redman. Not sure how him and the rest of the struggling Rox can be a pickem here. Redman is back from the bullpen demotion, and I think the Cards hit him around tonight. He's rumoured to be a few outings from outright release, and that has to weigh on his mind. Cards hit lefties pretty well, and have surprised everyone with their continued good play. Looper has been solid as a starter again this year, and save one hiccup start against SF, he has dominating stats.

BJays pitching staff, are you kidding?

The White Sox hitting you mean... they scored 5 runs in 4 games... Bjs can't hit either, they need another hitter, why did they drop Thomas? No way can they compete with red sox, Yankeesor even the rays....watch tonight...

What do you mean "kidding"? They have been good all year, and have the 2nd best ERA in baseball? :dunno:

Yeah...white sox can't hit, but what about the rest of the year? EVERYONE can't hit? lmao. Also...I quoted a 9 game run that they are on...what about the other 5 games? Red Sox are the AL's best, and KC is middle of the pack.

As for Thomas...they dropped him because he was hitting well under .200, was a rally killer in the middle of the order, was a liability on the bases. He was also going to get a 2009 option picked up for 10 million with 400 plate appearances, and that would have been insane. Rolen was also coming off the DL, and getting placed into the middle of the order. Thomas was also not liked in the room, is the rumour, and was a complainer. Oakland picked him up, he's continues to struggle, and hasn't hit a homerun in a MONTH. It was probably the best move the Jays have made all year, IMO.

Hitting is definitely a concern....but there is no doubt they have the best pitching in the division, and if they get any kind of hitting the rest of the way...they have a shot IMO.

Thanks for the informative post Duke...GL :beer2:

        DH

Good info... Did not know BJs have the 2nd best era....i'm not ripping on your team, I was watching an A's game (over the weekend) and they said BJs GM admitted that letting Big Frank go this early in the season was a rushed mistake... He's always been a slow starter and now they can't find anyone for the DH role..(Stairs,Stewart) Good Luck to you my friend....

The A's announcers have it wrong. It was a given he was going to be released b/c of the bonus in his contract. Everyone knew it. His brutal start, and general attitude just rushed the move. The Jays couldn't wait for him to get "warm" in August like last year, when they were already out of the race....he hit so many meaningless homers last year, and really was not there when it counted. So I can't see the GM saying he released him "early" when he hasn't hit for **** with Oakland either. They have found someone for the DH role...you listed him....Stairs. He is having his second good year with the Jays, and is much preferred to Thomas.

I agree though...the Jays definitely need one more power bat to have a chance at the postseason...but they have some good prospects, and the money to make a move if they are in the race in the summer...

Funny thing is...remember all those Rios for Lincecum or Cain rumours in the winter? Imagine how much of an UNDER team Toronto would be if THAT would have happened. lmao...

          GL Duke...

            Good Luck today JML.

When I was the game this weekend, I thought it was funny how big of an ovation Big Hurt still gets in Oakland, even after going 0 for 4 and leaving 3 men on in scoring position. Guys like Jack Cust and Emil Brown are taking a back seat to him it seems, and that's just not right. I mean the guy was only here one year and he's slugging like .340 this year! He has to be the worst #4 DH in the league. I think I was the only one not cheering. If his crap production continues I'm guessing the cheers will soon dissipate.

              Adding...

Twins +115 (Blackburn) vs Chisox - 1.5 Units
Fading the Sox bats, they looked awful here in Toronto...plus the Twinkies are rolling, and I like Blackburn...

Angels +123 (Adenhart) vs Royals - 1.5 Units
Adenhart is supposed to be a future star, and was dominant in triple-A this year (4-0, 0.87 ERA). I'll throw out his first start in the majors, as it was on three days rest on an emergency callup. He should do better tonight on regular rest. Bannister has not been consistant, and prefer the halos bats over the queens anyway...

              Padres/Braves UNDER 9 -109 (Listed) - 2 Units
Don't see many 9 totals with SD, especially with Young pitching....add that to Jurrjens quality stuff, this one seems a run high...probably b/c of Atlanta's quality bats and recent power surge against the Reds...but it gets tougher here against Young...
