    ~~ BIFF'S BASES - APR 19th ~~

Finally back in the black thanks to back to back 2-1 showings. Looking to build on that today.

First up... CLE @ MIN. This is one total I'm liking a lot. Cleveland and Minnesota are both in the bottom third of team OPS% for day games both last year and so far this year. There were 8 total hits last night, and outside of another poor showing by Liriano, there wasn't much offense to be had.

Neither team threw it's "top shelf" relievers, and Borowski is on the DL! Hope he stays there! Indians bullpen ERA drops from about 5.30 to around 4.15 if you take away his 4 horrid innings this year. He's also never come in w/ runners on, so it's not like he's just letting in inherited runners, he was blowing games and totals.

Now most don't know who this guy is, but Nate Blackburn was one of the Twins' top prospects entering spring training. In 2007, he was lights out in both AA & AAA. His spring numbers were solid as well as he left with a 2.25 ERA in 16 innings. He did well in his first start at home, don't see any reason he can't match that performance today as his pitching to keep his spot in the rotation with Slowey needing a spot soon. Blackburn's 3.00 G/F rate in three starts is making a very strong case.

Jake Westbrook has done very well against this Minnesota lineup, a team he's held to a OPS% of just .632 over his career. He's held them to a .252 average in his last 10 match-ups stemming back to 2005. Westbrook has done well so far this year posting an average game score of 60 in his first 3 starts. With the Twins only averaging 2.8 runs at home so far this year, it's hard to imagine a break out game today after last night's performance. I love getting the key number on this one. Good Luck... I'll have at least 1 more today. I'd have a heavy lean on the Phils if Rollins was coming back today, but he isn't. Good Luck.

      Thanks Daws :th:

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner. Another shutout tonight, but this one came from Blackburn and Co.

Going to stop there for the day. Now that I'm finally up on the season it's time to start practicing some better money management and lay off making 3 picks everyday. Something is just not right with C. Young right now, so be careful if you are thinking of taking a gamble on him today. Tightness in the forearm can mean a lot of things, but most importantly that means he's going to have a little less on his fastball. Good Luck. Back at it tomorrow.
