    ~~ BIFF'S BASES - APR. 11th ~~

Here's my card so far today. Only one play so far with action.

The Cubs are coming off a couple sqweekers against the Pirates, and the Phillies are coming home after finally losing to the Mets. Now Myers was given the opening day nod over Cole Hamels because he looked like a beast this spring. After two mediocre starts, now is a good time for him to show what he's made of. Zambrano has always struggled against lefties, but if you look at his numbers against Philly recently, they're really good. However, he did not face this team last year when they were firing on all cylinders. Charlie Manuel has stacked this lineup with four lefties right off the bat for Z. The only guy who has hit Myers hard in the past is Lee, and he can be pitched around, with Ramirez under .250 and Ward making a rare appearance still with zeros on the season behind him. I hate back this Philly pen, but first five innings doesn't do much for me here as I think both starters will make it to 6+. With that being said Z could be lights out for 5 innings and then fall apart. This line opened at Philly -115 and with all the Cubbies backers laying money they have inched the Phillies to a dog, I got to take it.

I also like the Rays today against the Birds coming over from a double dip in Texas. Rays were very convincing in their 7-0 shutout yesterday against Seattle. Shields is still a very underrated pitcher in my book, while Guthrie is the exact opposite. I'd have to take the Rays RL though, because I'm not laying -160 on them.

Pretty solid lean on the Nats tonight against Hudson as well. The run line is probably a safer bet, because I have trouble going against Hudson, he leaves on the mound every time he goes out there. Braves are also coming off three cold losses in Colorado. With a travel day yesterday due to the cancellation, the could be ready.

Wow. Two gophers right off the bat... I hope he got that out of his system. :puke:

Both of them came of pitches up and in, so at least he isn't leaving them over the plate. He's just gotta mix up the speeds so they aren't sitting on that 90 mph fastball and ready to turn on it.

This didn't work the first time I tried it, so I'm trying once more. I think Livan will have a very very tough time coming over to the AL so late in his career. Meche is nothing special, but Livan hasn't pitched in Kauffman yet, nor has he been hit too hard yet this year. I hate to touch another fav this high while still in the red, but it must be done. Sorry for the late post, but sometimes I make game time bets and posting is the last thing I do.

I may have one more play later tonight.

      KANSAS CITY ROYALS -140

What was I thinking with the Royals.... I'll get you Livan... I will.

One last gametime play and I'm done for the night. I'm not on the Webb is a sure bet train yet this year. I have to take the value here when Francis does so well at Chase Field. With the Rockies rolling now, and the DBacks been getting lucky a couple times to get on this win streak, it has all the makings of a pay back game. These are two young teams and it's already personal I'm guessing after the Rockies were swept in the first series a few days ago. Hope this one works out better than the last. Good Luck. :th:

        COLORADO ROCKIES +135

Two late picks did not come through. I broke even for about 2 hours and then handed it right back. Just means I'm going to have to work twice as hard tomorrow to snag a couple winners, and I'm okay with that. Royals out hit the Twins but yet lost 5-0. Webb was dealing tonight, unlike Francis who's now given up 6 HRs to these Diamondbacks in 2 starts so far this year. I laid off the Rays and I got greedy, I'll admit that much, but I stand by my decisions. A lot of early season is just getting lucky. Until there's at least a month of statistics, it's very hard to predict when a team is trending up or down. Livan Hernandez is not going to go 20-0, and when he loses I plan on being there. From what I can see so far tonight, it seems like tonight was a day for the masses, so I won't get hung up on it. Back tomorrow.
