    Glavine Goes To Atlanta

    1 Year For 8 million

Smart on both sides, a little pricey, paying a couple extra mil for the name...but still a nice pick up. Texiera to have a full year as well. Braves lookin good...

    Congrats ATL fans.

Wonder how the first Glavine line will look.

Haha, so the Marlins touched him up...you'll forget about it in 2009.

I've got a lot of respect for the guy taking half what he could of made so he could be closer to his family.

Glavine has always been a class act. Gotta like that.

Glavine is a class act and was a very good pitcher in his day. His time is past, he looked like **** toward the end of last year. I can't imagine him getting past the 5th inning to many times this year. We'll see......

I hate Tom Glavine with a passion, always have always will, but I fully admit he's a classy guy (even if as the MLBPA Union leader he doesn't have a spine like Smoltzy does and won't speak out against steroid use). To say he took "half of what he could of made so he could be closer to his family" though is simply not a true statement. One, he's not going to ever play anywhere else other than Atlanta, New York, or Boston (and Boston obviously doesn't want, or need, him). Two, no one wanted him except Atlanta. He had no other offers to go to (partly because he is old and not good anymore, and partly because everyone knows he won't play anywhere else).

The Braves offered him $7 million and he got his $8 million. Also Kev, you leave out that four years ago he left Atlanta in the first place for the money and disrupted his family's goings-on.

Let's not act as if the guy took $2 million to play for the Braves when someone offered him $15 million for 2 years or something.
