in playoff bases so far, I have bet on EVERY dog, 21 games so far, and my record is 11-10, I caught the rox 3 times as a dog, and the indians 8 times as a dog... rox are 3-0 as a dog, and the indians are 6-2 as a dog... did you think the rox would go 7-0 against philly & arizona, or the indians goin' 6-2 against nyy and bos????? 50/50 odds... :beer2:

So, is there 50/50 odds on the following game:

Bosox - Beckett vs Devilrays - Edwin Jackson

      Bosox -270?

I agree that in a SPREAD scenario, its a coin flip. Same with over/unders. No two ways about it. But i'm sorry, i think Beckett vs E Jackson or A Eaton or any other bum is not 50/50. Thats why its a money line game. It would be 50/50 if it were BOSOX -2.5 runs.

no reason to make it more complicated. yes, the books will increase the moneyline due to the teams/players stats matchup... but in reality, there are still only 2 possible outcomes: boston win or devilrays win... still 50/50 odds... :beer2:

so edwin jackson is in the big leagues picthing against redsox for a reason...?
you saying beckett is invicible? cant be hit... if so he have a 0 era... any given day any team can win anyteam can hit the ball well or not hit the ball well...

anyway you look at it when it comes down to it he is right every pick you make is 50/50 chance of winning cause when you put your wager in when game is over u win or u lose

              taking runs over 8.5

either they teams score 9<.... or 8>......

                thanks DA:beerbang:

1 swing of the bat and the game could change!!!! same goes in a football game, a costly turnover late in the game, could change the side or total, that covers!!!!!!

Why do we wish GL, to bettors, if bettors have an advantage, on the outcome????:drunk:

If you read my post, i said Over/Unders are 50/50 just like spreads in the nfl, cfb, nba, cbb...

I wasn't saying that Bosox with beckett are going to beat the Devilrays with Edwin Jackson 10 times out of 10. But the the probability of Josh Beckett shutting down the devil rays and of Edwin jackson getting pulled in the 4th for giving up 5 runs make it less of a 50/50 proposition. I honestly think that the redsox from this season and the drays from this season, with beckett vs jackson, played 10 games, the redsox would win more than 5 games. Therefore, in my mind, its not 50/50.

That being said, i completely understand heavy favorites in moneylines aren't a good way to make money in MLB or Hockey, etc... I just dont consider the ODDS to be 50/50 when a pitcher and a line-up play such a major role in the outcome of a game.

Alright, we'll just agree to disagree on this one HD. I can hear what your saying, but its just not sitting right for the scenarios i mentioned.

sham, we can disagree...:beerbang: but I need to chime 1 more time on your example of becket -270 vs jackson ... those are the books inflated odds (due to the matchup) & most often influenced by the publics $$$$$$... but the true odds, with 2 possible outcomes are 50/50... just like in boxing, boxer A might be 50-1 over boxer B, but as long as there are only 2 possible outcomes, the true odds are 50/50... :beer2:

alright, i'm pickin up what you are throwin down, but answer one last Q:

If the Bjays pitched Halladay 10 times in a row against the worst pitcher in the league,

do you think the outcome would be 5-5?

I'm inclined to think you may lean AT LEAST Hallady 6-4........

Just messin' with you, i'll give it a rest.

Just taped SFLA and RUT to opposites sides of a quarters and it landed SFLA up.....not good news for the cappers here........!

                      Sham....
