Help settling dispute with my bookie...Opinions needed

Hey guys, I've been a long time reader ever since the move from the old site. I don't post very often because I don't want to feel like people should be influenced about what another person thinks of the game, but I feel as if I know all of you pretty well from just reading what you guys write. I had a problem this past weekend with my bookie, now I'm sure most of you were aware of the Baltimore - Washington game this past weekend that got called/canceled after only 33:22, hardly close to 60 minutes. They decided it was best to call/cancel the game in best interest of the players to prevent injury aside from the lightening risk overhead. Now, all the sportsbooks that I wager with online; Bodog, BetUs, Sportsbook, ect. state that a wager on a NFL game will only receive action if it goes a full 60 minutes or longer due to OT. The bookie I bet with, side action for fun because I wasn't close to a computer, called me today and said he wants his $110 by friday, I said what do I owe you that from? he stated that the game was marked a Final so it's like baseball after 5 innings its a solid score. IMO this is ludacris because NFL can not even be compared remotely to MLB due to the fact that how many NFL games have actually been called in the middle of them, weather effects NFL the least out of any of the sports. Just want to get some opinion if I'm right or wrong because I do have a problem handing over money this way, when I genuinely lose then I can accept that, not when I feel like I'm being swindled. Thanks guys!

      1) probably should post this in GD

      2) games are official in vegas once they go 55 minutes in duration for football

      3) there are no rules with a local. no offense but some of you guys act like "locals" are some regulated industry with rules etc.....they're not....dude can make up whatever he wants and enforce it. that is the risk you take with betting with a local guy. it's not like you can dial up the local gambling union 244 and complain about him. there are pluses and minuses to betting with both off shores and locals and you just found one of the disadvantages to using a local.

i feel for you, and you are being swindled, but if the guy says you owe him you owe him, IMO. GL with whatever you decide..........

I had Balty as the sole loser in a 3 team parlay at 5Dimes that I counted a loss, then after this post I checked & realized they cancelled the whole parlay. I called then up to complain, stating that if the game was a no bet, then it should be graded as a 2 team win! They ended up doing so, thankfully I caught it....

Fishysmell- That's screwed up, but as FF said that's the drawback to using a local. I've had some really bad experiences with locals myself, though a couple buddies of mine swear by their local. If you have an online account but aren't close to a computer, than call the damn sportsbook instead of your local. If it were ne I wouldn't give him any more business...

          Unfortunately, FF is right.

And...it doesn't sound like you know this guy too well, or have a good relationship with him, so IMO, your only option is to pay him the 110, and never use his services again.

Also...I would tell him that you think it's bull****, and that you'll pay, but most likely not use him any more because of the result of this game. He might cut you some slack, in liu of losing your business.

Locals...I can't believe people still use them :dunno:

Tell him you thought you were betting Vegas rules and that's how you'd like to bet in the future. If he doesn't want to do that them find someone else.

I've never bet with an illegal local and never will, so I strongly suggest you do the same. ;)

OR, you could just call the cops and bust his ass. lol

JML: I agree with you on the use of locals, I for one ever since the end of last season have become increasingly unhappy with the amount of time that I had to wait to receive my funds. Not to mention getting $4,000.00 stuck in Neteller. It was a mistake that I will not make again, I just want to find a sportsbook that when I request my payout sunday night and I receive it in two days western union(the bodog of old), I am able to enjoy my money and be able to take my fiance' out for a nice night- not request a withdraw and receive a check in 15-17 business days. Just doing a little venting, sorry. Thanks

I thank everyone for their responses. I think I became too comfortable with my offshore sportsbooks and forgot the BS that locals can start. I do agree with FF in he can say whatever he wants and it is at his discretion, but IMO it still just ticks me off because it could be like well if he won off a lot of other people then he may not have even called to try and collect, but if he was down for the day then suddenly he is going through looking for small scraps of money to heal his wounds. I guess this is just another "learn from your mistakes" type of situation in which I do realize to stick strictly with my betting online, primarily for the fact that a computer cannot threaten my life or go after my knee caps...lol

I had something happen that was similar Underdog, hell if your not wise enough to check up on your own bets then they're not just going to give away free money. The important thing is that you caught it and received the money you deserved:beerbang:

I don't think calling the cops and busting his ass will help the situation. lol although humorous, it would probly really piss the guy off and start portential problems that could be worse!

Fish...just like you, don't really post much here. But believe me, these guys know their stuff. Don't really use a local anymore on my end, but my cousin still does and his action on the Balt/DC game was determined to be no game/no action. Agree with most here, tell him you're taking your action elsewhere if it isn't settled as no action. Can't believe that that game was counted as a full game, in his eyes. Ask him if he paid out on it. Seems like most of his action might have been on the Ravens. :ticked: BOL. Wish ya the best.

NO way do I pay off that bet.

Id tell him look bro, call it no action or your going to lose my action. Bookies like volume, so he'll surely let it pass.

What a piece of **** book. I'd dump him just based on the fact that he'd ask for that loot.

Kevin, thats not right at all.... unless he got the rules & regulations in writing, from his bookie, before he made the wager, to show differently, he loses... That **** happens all the time. Pay him, and move on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did ya ever go into a restaurant and eat, and when you get your bill, you noticed, they added a gratuity charge? You still pay!
I withdraw funds from my online account, at a $10.00 fee, later to find that they charge $35.00, do I bitch, hell no... its there money anyways!
