There is no money in poker anymore?

I keep hearing all these guys say there is no way to make money in poker anymore because it has become to tough with all the press and websites and such. A week ago I came out of semi retirement from tournament poker last Tuesday.I played in a 70 man max $85 and did so the same this week. Both events sold out at 70. Results:

Week#1 chopped 7 ways for 600 and small change was 2nd in chips
Week#2 chopped 4 Way for 1k was about 3rd in chips

Is this a brag? Kind of and kind of not. Even though it is a small sample size a hell of a return thus far even though the games are allegedly tougher. Do any of you play poker out there in #predictemland ?

I do Chis.....But I play mostly online. A local casino has an online free play for really good stuff.
Rooms, food and amazon gift cards....so its not like regular freeplay were people play WRONG cuz its free. I have done really well there.

Fields are generally over 250 people and I have hit final (10) at about 15%. I play small sit and go's at Bovada also and do well.

In live poker I suck. I cant see the cards if im not in 4,5,or6. I cant see the others chips to make chip counts and I cant really fast figure the amount in the pot. Thats why online is so much easier for me.

I really miss live poker. My local card room has a rep. of very hard to beat. But if you play at the lower N/L tables they are beatable. 1-1, 2-2 and the 2-5 gets a little harder and 5-5 i wouldent touch.

So the answer is really ...yes still $ to be made if you pick your spots!

I always tell people that want to learn how to play....DO NOT play freerolls or free $ sites, your only learn bad habits!
Ya gotta look out for #1 or your gonna step in #2

I think with so many more people learning/playing poker, there is definitely money in it. I am a big fan of home games, and can find a 1/2 NL home game pretty much any day of the week. My regular game I go to will have upwards of 2k on the table at any given time, with no rake. I would say within the rotating circle of about 20+ guys, there are 4-5 really good players. The rest are just hotshots who play every suited hand, chase down flushes and won't lay AK down when it is beat. Games are so good I don't even mess with cash games at the casino.

As far as tourney play, I am rusty- haven't played consistently but a couple of my buddies are doing well... seneca casino american side is close by, but they also go out to Turning Stone for tourneys. Tons of satellites running- one of my friends won a $200 satellite to get into a $1200 tourney, then won another ticket and sold it. Ended up cashing in the big one so he netted upwards of $3500.
Champagne for my real friends, real pain for my sham friends...

IMO There is money's still in casino like tourneys. As for online tourneys not sure most that still play online are regs which can make the games super tough. After a few more cashes that I hope I get this weekend my next step is to get into mixed cash games. Also my local place runs a Omaha 8 or better 6 days a week at 5/10 stakes. I have randomly played in this game 10 times in the last year and am a $700 loser lifetime. I feel the game is very beatable because how loose it plays. A regular in that game playing super tight could scoop 200+ a day out of that game.

Holy **** been a year since I made this post. I have been playing 5/10 Limit HO for about 6 months now 2-4 times a week. Currently up low 4kish. Most of the money made on the Omaha Hi/Lo side. Have played 1 tourney in the last year knocked out early and been grinding the heck out of cash. I have played some no Limit games Kansas City but the games are very tough even for 1/2. They do run a 5/5 Omaha game that looks super super juicy.

When I play live games I prefer to show up at the Casino around midnight. Things get real loose around 3am because people's buzz's and lack of sleep start getting sloppy. An old man I was playing with last weekend straddled every hand! LOL

I prefer in person because if you watch people over the course of 4+ hours you can figure out their habits. Especially when you've seen them hit the ATM machine every hour! LOL
