    Hidden Secrets of Vegas

Hey fellas, posted this in Q's thread, but wanted all of your input as well... my buddies and I go to Vegas once a year, and this year we'll be heading on Feb 10-13th. We're looking for some fun things to do, other than our usual gambling, drinking, sportsbooking. Though that's the type of stuff we normally do, and will do this year, some of us want to take it easier than other years. We play a lot of craps, three-card, hold'em, etc.

We are quite familiar with the Yarders of Margaritas downtown under the Fremont canopy near the Golden Nugget, but usually eat ****ty buffets and comped meals...

Looking for some hidden secrets from you guys on things to play, shows to see, drinks to drink. :) Any input would be much appreciated!!

this doesn't fall under any of the categories you asked about, but I think it would be fun to go down to the Pawn Stars pawn shop and just take a look around for an hour or so. It's a cool show and they have a bunch of stuff there that I would enjoy. and its located right there in vegas. Could be a fun way to kill some time.

oh yea. I just remembered, there is this one bar right near the sportsbook at the Mirage. They have an awesome deal on this one drink there. You can get a 32 oz beer in one of those souvenir cups for $8. Pretty good value for vegas if you ask me. Refills are only $5 too.

Thanks Daws - we're going to the Mirage on Friday for some Ivy Hoops! I'll have to take a look at that!!

Do you know where the Pawn Stars shop is at?

I agree, I think it'd be worth seeing as well. It's at:

          Gold & Silver Pawn Shop
          713 S. Las Vegas Blvd.
          Las vegas, NV 89101
          702-385-7912

Are any of you guys betting big bucks? If so, I'd highly recommend going to the Las Vegas Hilton Sportsbook and asking if you can sit in the "Hall of Fame Room". It's a little "cave" on the bottom right of the racebook that is filled with leather chairs and 9 plasma tv's. It's really an amazing way to take in all the games on a Saturday.

As far as grub goes... Are you guys meat eaters? If so, you GOTTA go to Via Brasil Steakhouse. It's absolutely ridiculous. (GOOD)

You can't go wrong with Ruth's Chris Steakhouse either.

I've seen most of the shows there. I thought that "O" was a bit overrated. I actually fell asleep during the show. Don't waste your loot on Blue Man Group either. What a f'n dud that show was.

The water show outside at the Bellagio is FREE and cool to watch, as is the Volcano erupting at the Mirage.

The ship sinking outside at Treasure Island USED to be cool, but it's turned into a **** show full of sexual innuendos.

If you're into seeing some cool sights, go have lunch at the top of the Stratosphere. GREAT views!

I believe there's a Ferrari dealership downstairs at the Wynn. That place is worth going into and walking around. Very plush.

Speaking of plush, the Bellagio buffet has some pretty tasty stuff. Its spendy though.

If you guys are into roller coasters, theres some cool ones at the stratosphere and new york new york.

If you guys are sober, Vegas Indoor Skydiving is cool:
          Vegas Indoor Skydiving
          200 Convention Center Dr.
          Las Vegas, NV 89109
          (702) 731-4768

Best bang for the buck is the Improv comedy club at Harrahs. Loads of laughs for only about 30 bucks (might be less)

I heard Joe Rogan plays in Vegas from time to time. He's pretty damn funny.

          Have fun!

Kevin: THANKS for the ideas. None of us will be betting huge bucks on sports, probably craps though. We'll see. Where are Via Brasil and Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?? We're definitely looking for some great eats! As for shows, we probably won't go to one - haven't in seven years, BUT, I'll strike-out O and the Blue Man Group. As for Joe Rogan - that might be something to check out - because I love his standup, seen a few on Netflix that were hilarious!! We've seen the staples of the Bellagio and the TI = definitely underrated, that's for sure. I think the Mazarati/Farrari dealership was packed last time we thought about heading there.

Dukies, do you know if they offer the Harrah's 30/24 deal at all Harrah's owned casinos??? Also, are they open 24h/day? We tend not to sleep too much!! We don't travel off the strip/downtown - so though Ellis Island and Hard Rock sound nice, we'll probably not go there. I do like the asian idea though at the NYNY that I will definitely check out!!

We like small table games, loose poker, free drinks, etc. Most are married (I am not) so we like to look! None of us are country fans, so that probably wouldn't work out either. Just boozing, grinding, etc. :)

even for $40 its a great deal considering its all u can eat and u can come and go as u please at any of those 7 diff buffets

I prefer the Venitian poker room over the Mgm Grand because they have better service for their drinks there...
but if u guys can cab or ride bus south on las vegas boulevard (aka the strip) and go to south point casino, they have sick ass bowling ally there with dollar beer dollar bowling certain nights night quite sure.. but also their poker room is pretty laid back and chill and they have best service i have encountered in a poker room they keep feeding you drinks after drinks and never cut you off unless ur spilling on urself or others... good times...

I found most buffets are not that good or worth the money unless you go the the mirage or something, but then they run like $30 and **** that, $30 for a buffet is a rip off.

My first post on a sports betting site that I'm qualified to respond on...

Think I read elsewhere you'll be staying at IP and Plaza... Well the IP is about the same as the Plaza as far as cleanliness but its location is incredible. Inside the IP you will find the best breakfast in Vegas at Hash House. Don't be in a hurry though. The Rockhouse bar in front of should entertain a bunch of guys at least one night. Weekends tends to be the hip hop crowd though. If you enjoy $12.00 drinks the outside bar at Harrahs is a good time. If you are still around on Sunday Night Gilleys bar at TI is a must for Bikini Bull Riding.

                          Ok Fun stuff...

O'Sheas Beer Pong Tournament on Thursdays. It's a must do good time and different from most "Vegas" things. Easy walk home to the IP as well.

O'Sheas is a fun party place for the front bar and crazy poker played on the strip if you can handle Chaos it can be profitable.

Karaoke at Bill's is great! If you have been playing beer pong all night....

If you play poker Venetian has best beverage service hands down and a wide spread of games. (I play at Ballys or Flamingo for tourists not drinks)

Take the Shuttle from Harrahs out to the Rio (It's free) and go to Voodoo Lounge. Should be open outside it's worth it to do it once.

Go to Planet Hollywood and find Earl of Sandwich. Nothing is bad at PH.

Eat at the food court next to MGM once and have a Chicken soft Taco at Del Taco for me please.

Cosmo, Aria & City Center are nice but boring.

NYNY and MGM are fun. Piano bar at NYNY is crazy. Dont waste money on Coyote Ugly though.

Get the Harrahs Unlimited Buffet and DO NOT eat at IP Buffet. Paris & Harrahs are great.

Eat at the Brazilian restaraunt in Planet Hollywood Shops. INCREDIBLE FOOD

Go see Frank Caliendo- Worth every penny.

                          Good luck!

                            Thanks for the ideas fellas.

                            Couple of notes:

Stayed downtown for the first night. Started off at Golden Nugget where we played some three-card, and blackjack - up about 200 afterward. Played some 1/2 NL and called a few bluffs with middle pair. Also got paid off even though I was a rock - VPIP probably around 15 percent, higher in cutoff/button/blinds.

Afterward, on Fremont St. listened to a live band for about an hour. With those yarder of margarita's across the street, it was a good time. They resembled a German leather/fetish-dressed band but covered songs from Iron Maiden to Journey. Four of us guys with yarders around our necks made for easy prey for the band and they had a good time with us between sets. Lead singer was great on vocals, also played bass and rhythm, and even did drums.

Threw craps at LV Club and had a few hot rolls, but leaked it back afterward - only up 100. Made our way back to the hotel about 2:00 a.m.

In the a.m. went to Hash House a Go-Go and had that 13" Snickers Pancake. I only ate about half - and it was freaking amazing. Our server was comical, but made a verbal comment about splitting the bill - "I'm not sure if I can do that." Uh, okay.

Went 5-3 on Thursday in NCAAB (got beat by the hook in one, beat the hook in another), Friday went 5-1 in NHL underdogs.

Friday played our pentathlon ($25 per event on BJ, Craps, Roulette, VP, Slots; most money after event gets their name on a plaque until the next year we meet) at LV Club because we're able to get tables when we wanted. Drink service was okay. Three-card afterward hit a Straight Flush and Trips in same session - up 500.

Back to IP and more bets, had the Emporer Buffet - it really wasn't that bad - and the Prime Rib was really good. I loved it. Service blew - but really not that bad. The fruit tortes were amazing!

Slots, three-card, BJ and another session of craps without a winning session. Played some more poker - another losing session - down about 800.

Saturday we spent the majority of the day in the Venetian sportsbook watching some great college basketball - unfortunately didn't hit on OSU vs Wisky - but was a great game to watch!! Walked over to the Mirage and ate at the BLT Steakhouse or something like that - had a hottie hit on me (do you tell a random guy that you're here for a wedding and that you just broke up with your bf?). I have no girl game, and didn't seal the deal. LMAO.

Last night there we played 2/4 limit at IP and two of my drunk buddies just took turns beating me out of pot after pot. No-pair, no-draw, no-problem - three-outers all day. Oh well.

Losing trip, but full of good times and good gambling times. :)

                            Thanks for your suggestions fellas.
