I really never make New Years Resolutions, just because they are always broken by most people within 6 weeks or so. I see LOTS of new faces every Jan 1st at the gym and they are almost all(90+ % of them) gone by the 1st of March.
So that is where I will start.

1st resolution of 2008--- try and be more tolerant of the newbies at the gym.

I have to remind myself that I was a newbie once, too. It might have been in 1989, but I was still a newbie...

I shouldn't get pissed when someone steals the bench I was using because I went to re-fill my water bottle. I'll try harder not to laugh or grin when someone thinks because they are bigger than me that they can lift as much weight as I can. I'm 5'9", 185 lbs and I can bench press 225 18 times and I max out at 285 lbs.

2nd resolution of 2008---get 315 lbs up on the bench press. thats 3 plates a side if you are scoring at home.

To do that, I will need to just focus on the bench press for a while, which will mean less cardio and more squats, lunges and heavy lifting. I'm going to give myself until March 1st to get it done--and then I'm going to retire from lifting "heavy". I'm 43 yrs old and in the best shape of my life, but I want to concentrate in 2008 on running a marathon in under 4 hours.

3rd resolution of 2008--run a marathon in under 4 hours.

Did one in 2006 in 4 hrs, 22 minutes and think I can get under 4 in our local marathon in Sept, 2008--but I will have to forgo some lifting time in order to put in the miles on the treadmill/outside to get to this goal. And anyone who lifts regularly can tell you this: its a bitch dealing with the nagging aches and pains that come with lifting heavy--leading to(at least for me) to not getting in all the cardio it will take for me to run under 4 hours in the marathon in Sept.
I'll always lift--nothing beats the feeling of pumping iron--I'm addicted to it, no doubt about it--but it will be just enough to keep up my body tone--and you don't have to go heavy to do that--lots of reps with a decent amount of weight will keep me looking buff--and help in my goal of running a marathon in under 4 hours in 2008.

      Football time--back later...

As far as my resolution.....just enjoy life a little more......and enjoy it with close friends and family that really matter....don't let other **** like issues at work, gambling, or any other of the non-important things in life be the cause of another 'bad' day this year...just enjoy life and live it to fullest....(hope that made sense),...

BookieKilla, one thing I am afraid of with those patches is the dreams. I am telling you, that I have several friends that have gone to the patch and have told me that if they leave it on while sleeping, that they will have the most vivid dreams ever. I literally someone will be trying to kill them, and it will all seem so real. This is from like 3-4 people too.

Other than that, I have been late every day for work (with the exception of like 4 months) for longer than I can remember. It has almost cost me my job several times, but I'm always finishing up the picks for the day, or checking lines, etc. before I go to work. Resolution for me is to finally go to work on time again!

GL with your resolutions guys. I would try to quit smoking, but I tried this cheap gum and it tasted disgusting and it tingled in my mouth the entire time, so disgusting. and I don't want those dreams with the patch, my dreams are already bad enough.
