    NCAA week 4

Previous seasons I tried to post all my picks and that eventually faded with 2 very small children and the same time struggles we all have. It is very demanding and I commend the diehards, appreciate the insight, and enjoy tailing a few of you.

With all that said I will try to post a few plays each week and hopefully get hot!

My reason for jumping in this week is to share a stat comparison I ran across for the Texas A&M vs SMU game that is currently sitting at aTm -33. I'm an aggie homer and can't wrap my mind around the spread. I think it is so off, it is down right scary. Any insight or opinions are welcome. Below is the stat comparison and I will follow it with picks starting tomorrow.

*SMU dead last in rushing, by a large margin. They have -16 total rush yards on the season.
*SMU averages -.41 yards per carry, dead last.
*SMU's longest run is 11 yards and it's their only run of the season of at least 10 yards.
*SMU is last in the nation in 10+ yard plays with only 15.
*SMU is last in the nation in 20+ yard plays with only 3.
*SMU has only reached the red zone ONE time. And on that possession then ended up backing up to the 33 yard line before scoring on a hail mary for their only touchdown on the year.
*SMU averages 3 points per game, dead last by a large margin.
*SMU is ranked 124th in passer rating as a team.
*SMU is ranked 127th in yards per attempt passing (out of 128).
*SMU is last in 3rd down conversions with only 17% success.
*SMU is last in first downs with only 12 per game.
*SMU is last in sacks allowed, by a large margin, with 6.5 per game.
*SMU is last in yards per play, with 2.75, which is around 30% lower than the next worst team of the last several years going back as far as I could find stats for.

    Meanwhile...
*A&M averages 54 points per game (4th in the nation)
*408 yards passing per game (6th nationally)
*596 total yards per game (4th nationally)
*31 first downs per game (3rd nationally)
    *62% 3rd down success (3rd nationally)
*3 sacks per game (21st in the nation)
*68 plays of at least 10 yards (1st in the nation)
    *12 plays of 30+ yards (6th nationally)
*A&M has allowed 0 rushing touchdowns (tied for 1st nationally, naturally)
*Kenny Hill is the only QB in the nation with more than 8 TD passes (he has 11) and 0 interceptions.

Pretty compelling argument, especially since the overs are at 61. I can imagine if they get up 4 scores they might sit some offensive starters to rest up for the Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Bama Games in the next 4 weeks. You gotta think that even the backups are capable of maintaining and increasing the lead to cover the chalk.
