    Cotton Bowl

    Updated record: 8-5 (+2.5 units)

I'd have to say that was one hell of a pregame speech by the Miami OH interim head coach last night. I mean I even wanted to go out and hit somebody after seeing that.

Anyways, I'll preface tonights pick by admitting that I'm a Texas Tech alum and may not have taken the red and black goggles off just yet.

LSU -2.5 - This is more of a fade of A&M than anything else. Going over their last six wins I'm not all that impressed and for some reason I keep waiting for them to come back to reality - hopefully that happens tonight. To start the winning streak they beat Kansas, which isn't much to brag about but they did switch to the QB they should have been starting all year. Next they beat my Red Raiders (which I was present for) but the score is somewhat misleading in that we fumbled the ball twice basically on the goal line each time - causing a huge momentum swing in favor of A&M. Then they beat OU at Kyle Field, which OU had been a poor road team all year, OU won the first down battle 29-17 and A&M returned a kickoff for a TD. IMO it was a misleading score and OU would win that game more often than not. Then comes Baylor who outgained A&M in yards. The Nebraska game wasn't impressive winning 9-6 with a little help from the refs at the end. In all seriousness, I feel that the game tonight might closely resemble this one. The last game of the season they squeek by UT (who actually had more first downs with an anemic offense) - granted its a rivalry game but UT was down this year. In all, I just don't believe that A&M is as good as their record indicates, which came against a down year for the Big 12 in general. I will say that I don't like the fact that A) the public is all over LSU and B) I've seen Les Miles make way too many dumb*ss decisions at the end of the game.

All that being said, I probably just wasted 10 minutes of my life typing an analysis for a losing pick.

And no, I'm not bitter that A&M has beat us the past two years. :bang:

Since Tannehill took over the QB duties, this team is different (in a good way). I'm all in with A&M tonight. GL though.

mgh - I agree with you about Tannehill being the better QB than JJ, I just think he's played a little over his head this year.

        GL this weekend.

Thanks for the intelligent discussion Q lol. One more thing to add to an otherwise pointless thread: a lot of discussion has been make about how LSU has gotten lucky to be where they are, have a horrible head coach who makes bonehead decisions, etc. I think a lot of the same people (not necessarily on this site, but a few others as well) might not have a realistic view of the A&M squad. LSU has been televised all year while A&M has had only a few games televised. Point being that they've had less of an opportunity to showcase who they really are, which I'll admit I don't truly know who they are for the same reason. I just think in their televised games we've seen all the good without the bad.

That's it, I'm done talking. :guzzle:
