    MP Week 12 CFB

I've sucked recently, so please fade away.

    Gonna go tonight with

    Ohio +10.5 (1.6 units) WIN

I'm going against the grain and am going to fade the public which is about 70% on Temple. This line has moved up three points today probably due to the Boo Jackson injury, although I cannot find anything anywhere on the internet that definitively says he is not going to play.

Either way, Ohio is not chopped liver; they've won six straight and are eying a MAC East title too here. They have scored 30+ in each of those wins, so even if Jackson is out I still think they have the ability to put up a few scores.

OU was 2pt dogs last year and whooped up on Temple 35-17. Im not a trend guy, but I like that the Bobcats are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games as an underdog & 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 MAC games.

I surely wouldn't be surprised if Temple controls this game - but I'll take my chances getting double digit points.

We shall see. GL tonight all :sm:

    St.X -24
    Colerain- 23

:dunno: :dunno: .........where did that come from....:dunno:

nobody had been talking about STX at all......they got down 10-0 and then hung 24 straight on Colerain.....feel bad for the Colerain kicker who missed the tying PAT with 5 and change left in the 4Q.....

so STX vs. HHWayne next weekend. What are your thoughts on that game Mike?? I saw Wayne 2x this year but haven't seen X. They lost badly to StEds earlier i do remember that but i believe they beat StIggy's. Avenged a regular season loss to LaSalle in the first round.

    GL!....this weekend..

I was STUNNED when I saw Colerain lost. Absolutely flabbergasted. They should have whooped X, who simply is not on the same caliber of the X state championship teams from several years ago. Colerain had speed advantage all over the field.

But athleticism doesn't always reign supreme at the HS level. Just look up north at Glenville-Eds...the big boys for the Eagles simply punished the speedsters for the Tarblooders. It's why Ignatius, X, Davidson, Elder, etc. have all won state titles this decade: tough, aggressive disciplined football (with a few pretty good football players sprinkled in somewhere ;) )

Wayne will go as far as Braxton Miller will take them. They've been a team on the rise since they whooped up on Centerville in the regular season and have carried the momentum into the playoffs. I have a feeling however, that Steve Specht and the very astute X coaching staff will put together a sound game plan to neutralize him. I like X in a low scoring game. 20-16 is my prediction.

GL to ya MP the TE.....maybe we can middle it as I've got the night birds -7.5!

Wasn't impressed with Miller early season when the got manhandled by Moeller.....and of course he was MIA against McKinley with an injury! They're riding him now.....

Boiler said Temple was overrated about a week ago and i strongly concur......looks like an Ohio v NIU MAC Champ game barring an Ohio loss next week.

I would think that if StX advances past Saturday BTW, that they will eventually get drilled in one of the final couple of games.

Thanks Flyers...only regret is that I didn't take the ML! :dunno:

I didn't envision Temple getting their asses handed to them, especially against an OU team that was pretty pedestrian offensively. Jackson looked rusty and whoever #87 is needs a hands transplant. Yikes.

As far as St. X, I certainly don't think they have what it takes to win a state title. If they get by Wayne, I see them losing to PC/HD or St. Edward should they somehow make it to the state title.

GL TE! The line has dropped at SBC.....I posted a thread about Miami QB injury but don't think it matters much. Kent's Spencer Keith has sucked hind teat and they still managed a win vs. the Zips thanks to 2 huge TOs from the UA offense!

I stand by my thought that the Zips still blow, they shoulda been wiped out by Miami "Let's kick another field goal" Redhawks.

Toledo looks like they are controlling this game so I'm adding:

                        Toledo -4.5 2H (2 units) LOSS

BG doesn't score an offensive touchdown but covers 2H. Not my night.

                            Saturday card:

                            Rutgers +14.5 @ Cincinnati (1.5 units; bought 0.5pt) LOSS

Like this game for several reasons.

                            1) Rutgers has a penchant for playing close games. In Rutgers' nine games this season, seven have been decided by five points or less.

                            2) Rutgers can get after the QB, recording six sacks last week. Meanwhile, UC is 114th in the country in sacks allowed...despite having a mobile quarterback.

                            3) UC hasn't faced a wildcat offense yet this year and their defense has been terrible during their three-game losing skid.

                            4) Rutgers has a decided edge in special teams.

That all being said, UC has a considerable advantage in overall speed and athleticism, so I think they'll be able to score enough to win; but Rutgers should keep this game very competitive.

                            Tennessee -10.5 @ Vanderbilt (1.5 units) WIN

Big game for Tennessee as they still could become bowl eligible. They've found some offensive rhythm over the past two weeks, scoring 50+ in each game. They'll need to impress in each of their last two games in order to potentially see a bowl game so I don't expect them to take their foot off the gas.

Vanderbilt has lost five straight by an average score of 41-11. They are decimated due to injury at key spots. They are on their 3rd string RB, 3rd string TE, 3rd string center, lost their starting DT (also their captain) and starting DE and quarterback Larry Smith won't be 100-percent after an ankle injury suffered last week.

No reason why the Vols can't win this game convincingly, despite being on the road.

Northern Illinois -15.5 @ Ball State (1.5 units) WIN

I can't find a good reason why NIU won't blow the doors off Ball State in this spot. They must win in order to secure a MAC Championship berth because Toledo is still nipping at their heels after their win last night...hoping the Huskies slip up down the stretch. A win by the Huskies is important here so they should be motivated despite playing a bad Ball State team.

I'm not buying Ball State's two game win streak; they played two of the worst teams in the country. Their 85th ranked rush defense allowing over 170 yards per game will be tested big time against NIU's potent ground attack that is fresh off 422 rushing yards in a 65-30 beatdown of Toledo.

Ball State may also be without one of their top offensive weapons in RB MiQuale Lewis, who suffered a shoulder separation last week.

Let's hope I can turn this week around after a crappy Wednesday...GL everybody :booz:
