    Week #9

Looking for a positive on the units this week, last week just .500. What a great match-up for tonight. Two teams who are strong aginst the spread (5-2) and both can light up the score board. The setting @ NCST where they are getting upwards of 4. FSU rolling into town pretty hot covering their last 6 of 8 running into a BC team that wouldn't quit. The Wolfpack is giving up the yards and points on defense but one thing really stands out: FSU are 0-8-1 ATS in their last 9 meetings and the underdog is 8-0-1 ATS in their last 9 meetings. This being a home game and Joe Public all over the Seminoles............

    Wolfpack +4(-120)..................1 unit.

    Also like the U61(-110).............1 unit.

Great match-up in the MAC with the Huskies of NIU going to W. Michigan. Broncos have lost 8 out of 9 ATS heads up. This number is a little inflated and I like the value they get @ home. If the Broncos can some what contain the NIU running game that number will be hard to handle.

    W. Michigan +9(-120)...............1 unit.

The Volunteers are self destructing but, 17.5 dogs??!!

    Tennessee +17.5(-110).............1 unit.

The Zips are an embarrassment, 0-9, 2-6 ATS. The Owls (6-2, 3-1) did little wrong last weekend in traveling to Buffalo, N.Y., and defeating the University at Buffalo 42-0 to move into a tie for second place in the East Division of the Mid-American Conference. The Owls make a huge statement.

    Temple -29(-120)....................1 unit.

    MSU/Iowa U50.5(-110)..............1 unit.

Doug Martin has asked much of his Kent State football team this season, but he has a new request for the game this Saturday: a repeat performance.

The Golden Flashes played a complete game last Saturday in beating Bowling Green 30-6.

''Our team is doing some things other Kent State teams have not been able to do,'' Martin said Monday in his weekly news conference. ''That's only the fourth time in 20 years that Kent State's beaten Bowling Green, and half of those have come from this coaching staff.

''The next question is, can we repeat it and get on a winning streak?''

The goal is clearly defined for the Golden Flashes (3-4, 2-2 in the Mid-American Conference) when visiting Ball State (2-6, 1-3) travels to Dix Stadium on Saturday for Josh Cribbs Day. Cribbs' No. 9 will be retired.

The Flashes "should" win this game for Cribbs day but covering that big number??

    Ball St +11(-120).................1 unit.

GL...I think I am with you on tonight's game as I am strongly leaning to the NC St ML. Part of the reason for NC St's success could have been Chuck Amato. He was hired to NCST from FSU and his knowledge of the program as well as Bowden's desire not to embarass people could have helped with a few of those covers.

You can call me Joe.....oh, you already do!

OK, then you can call me JP.....oops you do that also!

Well then, just call me Joe Public, cause I'm with the Noles!

GL Nicky and Ball State's score at Toledo last week with 12 seconds left cost me a cover. It'll be an emotional game with Josh Cribbs jersey being retired, etc. and should be a really close game. The Cardinals sir, are no Bowling Green Falcons.......

Actually a play on a Lloyd Benson quote in a debate with Dan Quayle.....

Also, watch the battle for the better Dover High graduate......Daniel Ifft is a WR for Ball State (his dad was his hs coach and he'll be at the game after their big rivalry game tonight vs. New Philadelphia, vs. Kent State punter extraordinaire Matt Rinehart!

3rd longest rivalry in State of Ohio....Dover will look to continue its mastery over New Philadelphia when the two neighboring high school programs meet for the 107th time at Woody Hayes Quaker Stadium tonight. The Tornadoes have won five games in a row and 14 of the last 16 meetings with the Quakers. Dover (5-0, 7-2) is shooting for an outright East Central Ohio League title and a shot in the postseason playoffs. The Tornadoes are currently ranked in the eighth-and-final playoff spot in Region 11 of Division III.

New Philadelphia (3-2, 4-5), whose last two wins over Dover came back in 2004 and 2005, will look two wreck those two goals set by the Tornadoes.

                  >Dover is powered offensively by junior Derik Swinderman, senior wide receiver Colton Zahner and senior running back Keith Johnson.
                  >Swinderman has completed 150 of 247 passes for 2,595 yards with 23 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
                  >Zahner has caught 55 of those passes for 1,103 yards and 15 touchdowns, while senior Logan Maholm has had 32 grabs for 554 yards and four scores and Ian Murphy has added 36 catches for 516 yards and two touchdowns.
                  >Johnson has run the ball 125 times for 865 yards and 18 touchdowns. He is coming off a 25-carry, 244-yard, three touchdown performance against Coshocton last Friday.
                  >Defensively, senior Chance Shalosky has racked up 99 tackles (41 solos and 58 assists) and Johnson (60 tackles), senior Christian Ifft (46 tackles) and senior Dalton Ryan (43) have been around the football this season.
                  >Sophomore Mason Mamarella leads the team in interceptions with four and senior Pierce Applin has recovered three fumbles to lead the team.

                  >The Quakers will be looking to do their damage on the ground, as they have most of the season. They’ve scored 21 of their 27 touchdowns on rushing attempts.
                  >Freshman Jamal Johnson leads a solid group of runners with 1,022 yards. Quinn Angel, who missed a big part of the season with an ankle injury is healthy and has 266 yards, while Zach Geib has 300.
