    MP Week 7 CFB

Central Florida -6.5 at Marshall (1.5 units) WIN

It goes against my mantra of picking home dogs on weekday ESPN games, but in this case I will ride UCF for the second week after an easy win last week. I just think UCF is a much better team on both sides of the ball. Offensively they are not flashy but efficient and have the two-QB system working out well. Defensively they are the 5th best team in the nation statistically...and this includes playing pretty good teams in NC State and Kansas State.

That doesn't bode well for a Marshall offense that can't pull their head out of their ass to save their life. 46 total yards at halftime in their last game against So. Miss? Yikes. Their starting QB was benched last week in favor of athletic backup AJ Graham, but he was injured and won't play. So Anderson returns under center.

Marshall will keep this game competitive for a while behind their home fans, but UCF is superior on both sides of the ball. I think they win it in the neighborhood of 28-17.

For angle players, UCF is 5-0 SU in the last five matchups and 4-1 ATS.

NC State -8 at East Carolina (1.5 units) LOSS

I'm riding the Wolfpack again after an easy win last week against Boston College. ECU has played two ACC teams thus far (granted both on the road) and lost by 22 and 25. They are allowing yards and points at an alarming rate as the fourth-worst defense in the country allowing 42 ppg.

That being said, Russell Wilson should carve up ECU's secondary with ease. He's coming off a big day against BC and is on pace for a 3,600 yd, 34 TD season. No reason that NC State can't hang a 50 spot on the Pirates if Wilson just continues to do what he's been doing all season. He's thrown TDs to 10 different players already...so good luck ECU in putting together a sound gameplan.

Some might argue this is a trap game for NC State considering FSU looms next week, but my rebuttal is that GT was also a trap game on the road three weeks ago with VT looming....and the Pack beat the piss out of the Ramblin' Wreck.

I think NC State wins this game by two scores; 45-31 or thereabouts.

Going to add one more later in the week...GL everybody :cheery:

    I agree Central Florida

They are on the rise and Marshall is not

Give me the team with the momentum over Marshall who got hammered in their last outing and had to wait 12 days to play again

    Good Luck

GL Tightend! Like both plays......UCF has a nasty D for sure and the Herd will see more of Bruce Miller than they would like. That guy is a bonafide NFL prospect for sure on a defense that ranks second nationally in passing efficiency defense (92.29 rating), fifth in passing defense (148.2 ypg), eighth in scoring defense (13.8 ppg) and ninth in total defense (265.2 ypg).

Huge game Friday night with Ursuline and Steubenville, but even if Big Red loses then run the table they still make the playoffs as one of the favorites although Marlington is for real. Dover must be Coshocton and win the last three to move into the picture, they are currently 11th.

Steubenville & Ursuline will be a dandy. The Fighting Irish are legit; don't be fooled by the D-V next to their name; they would be competitive in D-II. Almost every game they play is against higher division opponents. Their RB, Akise Teague, is special. He'll give Steubenville all they can handle.

              Add:

Oklahoma State +3.5 at Texas Tech (2.2 units; bought 0.5 pt) WIN

FlyersFan and I debated this game ad nauseum on the discussion thread, but I decided to pull the trigger.

Both teams can put up big points and Texas Tech has the benefit of playing in front of their home crowd. Both defenses are pretty lame, but I give OK State a slight advantage due to them forcing some turnovers. They're 10th in the country in TO differential while TT has allowed 90 pts in their past two games and didn't force a single turnover.

The teams have similar high-power passing attacks. But where I see the difference here is the running game. OK State's Kendall Hunter is a very good back who's among the top 10 in the country rushing with 700 yards and 9 TDs. He'll be a difference maker, IMO as I believe that OK State will try to take some air out of the ball and feed Hunter. Its exactly the formula that won them a 24-17 contest last year against the Red Raiders: 207 rushing yards after halftime to secure the win. On a slightly related note, TT's best D-Lineman has been suspended for the season.

I also like OK State WR Justin Blackmon as another wildcard. He's probably the most talented player on the field and is a threat to score anytime the ball is thrown in his direction.

IMO will be a close contest probably decided by single digits but I see plenty of value getting points, especially more than a FG. I think the Cowboys pull this one out by the slimmest of margins...probably like 35-31.

I doubt many will be on this game, but I like a ranked, undefeated team with Big 12 title aspirations to be pumped here and not allow a letdown.

FYI...OKST will be without 3 of their top 6 receivers this weekend. Read that last night, though, Rolando Blackmon is not one and is playing.

I've liked this one since the lines came out. Huskers are a power and Martinez is a beast. I just don't this UT can hang in there for four quarters.
