    MP Week 4 CFB

Went 2-2 ATS last week...got backdoored terribly in the Ill vs. No. Ill game and ECU crapping their pants in the 4th quarter vs. VTech

On to this week...only playing three games. No teasers, no parlays.

Air Force -15 at Wyoming (2 units)

The Falcons are a tough little team as evidenced by their close call AT Oklahoma last week. To little surprise they rank 1st in the country in rushing yardage at a staggering 399/game. Meanwhile, Wyoming is dead last in rushing yardage per game at a laughable 24.3. They also can't stop the run, allowing 191 to Southern Utah (4.5 ypc), 167 to Texas (5.8 ypc) and 275 to Boise (5 ypc). Air Force should gash this defense on the ground and don't see the Cowboys developing any offensive consistency with their meager running game. Heck Oklahoma had a hard time running the ball against AF last week, getting only 113 yards.

Florida Atlantic -9.5 vs. North Texas (2 units)

Nine players have already suffered season ending injuries for NT, who lost a QB, WR, and C last week. Nathan Tune began in the season in the backup QB role and started last week because the first stringer went down in week two; but Tune broke his leg so the Mean Green are now down to their third-stringer who is a converted WR. They are also down to their third-string center. This is all not good news for a team that ranks 114th in PPG (13.7) and was shutout last week by Army. Meanwhile FAU has had two weeks to prepare and looked competitive on the road against Michigan State. This is also FAU's home opener.

UNLV -9 vs. New Mexico (1.8 units)

UNLV is a pretty bad football team, but New Mexico might be the worst in the country. Lobos have allowed an average of 60 ppg in three losses. Ouch. To make things worse, New Mexico will be without QB B.R. Holbrook who is going under the knife this week. Backup QB Brad Gruner was hurt in last week's game, so there's a chance a true freshman will make his debut this week. UNLV has played two good teams on the road each of the past two weeks so coming home against a pansy should whet their appetite.

    That'll do it....GL all! :booz:

when it all goes south.....call for the MP's.....:beerbang:

solid card...haven't delved too deep into the card. I will tell you this that there is a round robin in the MWC this year of probably some of the worst football games you could ever get stuck attending starting with this week's barn burner between UNLV and NewCrapxico......

so how's Ohio football shaping up halfway through the season??....HUGE game this week down south between Moeller and X which should decide the GCL and give somebody a leg up in seeding......Moeller can sure put the points on the board this year....what's the word on my OSU boy Braxton McInjury??

    GL!...

I wouldn't have touched the UNLV/New Mexico game had I not done my homework regarding the Lobos' injury situation at QB. Holbrook was their best player IMO and then his backup goes down. If he plays he won't be 100-percent and if not then you have a true freshman 3rd stringer suiting up. UNLV being at home after two weeks on the road also seems appealing.

Ohio HS ball is interesting this year...Glenville and Colerain are 1A & 1B, followed by some really good teams in Centerville, St. Edward & Pickerington Central. Hilliard Davidson also is right there. Would be stunned if one of those teams didn't win the D-I title. I think Moeller is a couple steps behind those teams as of right now.

Surprisingly powerhouse programs like St. Ignatius (my alma mater) and Youngstown Cardinal Mooney are having DOWN years. In fact, Iggy might not make the playoffs for the first time since '88.

Your boy Braxton Miller is a great athlete, but guy can't stay healthy, hasn't thrown the rock all that well and is playing on a rather mediocre team.

one thing to be leary of in the UNLV game is that their Super Bowl is next weekend versus Nevada. That is one of the nastiest rivalries that nobody knows about and quite frankly, that game means more in terms of winning than grabbing a couple measly wins in the MWC.

On Braxton, I thought the same thing...dude has missed like 40% of the last 3 seasons with significant time in all 3 on the shelf. I have never seen the guy pass well and all i've heard is how scoutsinc.comspice ranks him really high.....i really hope OSU isn't pinning the next 3-4 years on that guy.....he will get hit once and sit out for 6 weeks...i can see him being that player that always is "questionable" with some nagging injury......

on the HS thing...yeah, Colerain is the class of down south IMO. Elder was supposed to be good but is 2-2 losing to a couple out of the area teams. I haven't followed too much up north except of course the BIG RED....:beerbang:

BOL this week and weekend Tightend. Like the Flyboys as well and had them on my card on Monday afternoon. Don't know if they'll make my final cut but they should. And that line has dropped to -13.5.......

Watched Braxton vs. Moeller.....he was Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.....great first half and disappeared in the second half. But it wasn't all him, their o-line was like a sieve. Also saw them against McKinley but he never played and Wayne was down to their 3rd string QB. Pickerington Central is the team from C-Bus to watch. Dover now 2-2 and start their weak conference schedule this week. May be on the outside this year......

Wish I would have grabbed that line at 13.5! But as long as there's not a significant letdown following Oklahoma, I still see AF winning by 17-20. I like a score of around 35-17. AF should have well over 300 rushing yards in this one.

I don't know if there has ever been a college football game where the differential in rushing yards/game average coming is 375! :eeek:

Ursuline is indeed a powerhouse. Beating D-II state title contender Lake Catholic is proof this year that they are again an odds-on favorite to three-peat. I don't see any team in D-V that can match up with them. In fact, I think they'd be a playoff team in D-I and would be a tough out in a Region 2 bracket.
